Impressed With Vick

[South Florida]

I came away from that game pretty impressed with Vick.

For one thing, I thought they put him out there quite a few times. He was crisp on his route running and gave good effort. His punt return for 28 yards was decent as well.

What really impressed me were the 2 shots he took while going across the middle. Both times he caught the ball on a short slant accross the middle and immediately got whacked by a linebacker. He didn't drop either ball.

The other two times he was thrown the ball he got a pass interference call against his defender and a dropped ball on a hard catch.

Other things I noticed while checking out the sideline (I sit behind it) was that Vick always, seemingly as a matter of habit, put his helmet on when the offense hits the field. He was usually standing with Gibson and Aromashodu who didn't presumptuously do that, but he did every time.

For such a punk, as many call him, he was extremely well behaved on the sideline and in action.

I don't know right now if he deserves a roster spot, but I know for sure that he helped himself last night.

What impressed me most was that on one jump ball type scenario over the middle after he couldnt catch it he tackled the defender so he couldnt make a play

He was better than Hagan thats for sure (hagan wasnt even running the routes correctly)

I'm excited having a guy with his potential on this squad . . FOR NOTHING. Just amazing . . the kid knows Nick has givin him a life line and is doing his best with it. I really want to see him make this team and give us that slash presence.

Oh yeah definitly way to early, but if the preseaon ended today Vick and Cliff Russle would be on the roster

Vick's got real potential if he can keep it clean. So far he has and I'm pretty impressed. Let's see if he performs as well or better in the next preseason games.

Vick was impressive. I dont think he'll make the 53 man roster, he's just too raw, I think he will make the practice aquad, then they'll send him to NFLE.

For vick, your talking about a guy who was the all star of his college team, then went undrafted. He's has his wake-up calls handed to him in some pretty harsh ways. If nothin else, he's shown hes matured.

yeah i think vick played pretty good overall. i think vick is gonna make the team as our 4th reciever.

i was really impressed with the way vick runs routes. on posts and slants, he was taking very sharp angles and looked fluid throughout his cut. he looked great for a kid who hanst played much receiver.

i think he will have a bigger role on this team than expected.but i also think he should have gotten a chance to go try out for the QB position also
