...will we see our Dolphins in the playoffs at least once?

Of course (duh) it is very early - huge understatement - to say one thing or another but I would, out of curiosity, like to get your gut feeling on the possibility; do so only with evenly talented players - no standout star(s).

My answer: yep - we will see that the man achieve that goal regardless of talent on the field - he will be that good in my book. It's just my feeling on the guy without evidence in my favor...It's just a vibe.

I see greatness in him. Can't pinpoint but like his attitude. The guy climb the ranks on his own and never played yet look where he is at. Peyton respects him and that's saying a lot. He is the anti Philbin.

I like him. Ill go with yes

But at the same time I find it interesting that when a coach fails, he is usually replaced by a polar opposite. I could be wrong but I would think that wouldn't really yield great results most times. No proof to back it up but a general feel.

Could also be dolphins fan syndrome where I see the same mistakes being made over and over with us but it doesn't necessarily reflect the league

Depends if he gets a proper gm who builds a half decent team.

Cant get to the playoffs without at least a functional lineup

There are probably a million different factors that go into being a winning coach, but let's just take 5:

Talent Identification/Maximisation
Scheme
Coaching - ability to get players to understand and execute as much as possible
Attitude
In game playcalling/adjustments

So far, he's got a nice scheme and a good attitude.
He's put good coaches around him from good pedigrees, but it's very early to say whether they're getting their teaching across to the players or not. Mixed evidence in a short space of time.
He apparently had a big hand in the draft. Hmmm. I give him Howard, but the rest I'm not convinced about. We'll see how well he and the FO can work together.
As for in-game tactics, this isn't his first go-around as a playcaller and so far I'm a bit underwhelmed. He might be installing a new system, but attacking opponents weaknesses is the best way to make things easy for your team. Not seeing huge evidence of that.

Way too early, but if those 5 are must-haves for postseason success, I'd say he has some developing to do.

"He might be installing a new system, but attacking opponents weaknesses is the best way to make things easy for your team. Not seeing huge evidence of that."

True on the first quote....but not sure if that is on the players, or Gase at this point. And the second quote...Exactly how many weaknesses (vs advantages) do the Seahawks and Patriots have AT HOME? They need to bury the Browns early. Then again, we have a road game on Thursday at Cincy, another fairly good team. These guys are cutting their teeth with a fairly tough schedule. Three of the first four on the road against playoff teams.

I think he has the "it" factor as a coach. But one thing that's hard for us to see as fans, is how he interacts with players, and how they respond to him. IMHO that's what separates good coaches from mediocre to bad coaches. The ability to get and keep the players attentions and focus, and to translate his knowledge of the game and how he wants it played to his players. Players seem to connect with him. They seem to be buying in. But only time will tell. I would say that if I had to bet, then I would bet that he does see the playoffs as a Dolphins coach, and I think it will be as early as next year.

I like what Gase is showing so far but his worst enemy is the incompetence of Mike Tannenbaum.

Its like being a world class sprinter trying to run in mud...

A&O, yes.

I think Gase is the right man for the job. Vance joseph is also going to be a good defensive coordinator for as long as we can keep him. I believe those things. Both guys adapt their game to their personnel. Both guys have a preferred style and want to draft into that style, but in the interim they adapt around the players they have, much like Don Shula did, but unlike most modern coaches. Gase isn't just a system guy. He is a football guy and a creative guy and a smart guy and an attention to detail guy.

Will he dethrone Belichik? Don't know, but I doubt it. But if Gase lasts until Belichik retires then I can see him building the strongest team in the division year in and year out. The question is how good will he be between now and then, and how much patience will Ross have?

I am not a fan of T-bomb, but the following moves helped the team this year.

- Maxwell/Alonso/pick trade
- Howard
- Culliver
- Suh last year
- IQ
- Tunsil
- Drake
- Bushrod
- Steen last year

My point is that Gase has enough talent if he and his coaches make the correct decisions.

I like Adam Gase's philosophy about football, if ownership doesn't get too impatient and gives him time, he can build a good franchise. I think that success in the short term will be limited by all the problems he inherited from the previous regimes. I am looking long term....2-5 year plan. I believe he can definitely take this franchise to the playoffs, the question is when....

I believe Gase will make the offense work. I believe they will be good but if Gase is to turn into a great HC then he needs to take charge of the whole team, not just the offense. I believe most first time HC's will naturally gravitate towards their comfort zone. In gase's case that is the offense but to be a great coach he will need to take control of the whole team while at the same time delegate to his assistants. He can't do everything himself but he needs to be in charge of everything. I like him but time will tell if he can take that next step.

Ozzy rules!!
