Gus has one impressive stat last season, which is most completions for 25 yrds or more.

Thought some people would like to know.

Dont take this the wrong way but any chance of a link?

Palmer had the most I thought.

..I definitelt liked the "air it out" approach we took on offense last year..it opens up so much of the field for other aspects of an offensive gameplan.

If that stat is accurate.......than I you can virtually guarantee that he led the NFL in incompletions on attempts of 25+ yards. I'm pretty sure that I'd heard that the Phins lead the league in such attempts.

guys i have no reason to lie.. i heard it on cbs after the seaosns was over trust me he led the league in that stat

I've heard this before. I called B.S. on it then.

I can't find it anywhere.

What I can find are stats for passes of 20+ yards.

Gus had 39.

Brady had 59.

I find it highly unlikey that 20+ of Brady's were exactly between 20 and 25 while Gus had ZERO between 20-25.

And the next couple I checked had more, too.

Peyton manning had 45 and Eli had 49. Carson Palmer had more.

Heck, Kurt Warner had 37 in six fewer games and 120 fewer attempts than Gus.

if you really want to have fun with #'s of long pass plays and a giggle about how little it means...

Frerotte had 39 passes of 20+ yards and 9 passes of 40+ yards in 494 pass attempts.

Sage had 5 passes of 20+ yards and 3 passes of 40+ yards...

So, extrapolated to the same number of attempts and Sage would have:

40 passes of 20+ yards and 24 passes of 40+ yards.

Frerotte had 8.1 times as many pass attempts this year that Sage.

If you multiply Sage's results by 8.1 to get an idea of his full season numbers... and he would have had an extraordinary number of long passes.

The point was that number of long passes by itself doesn't mean much without coupling it with comp % or YPA.

I doubt it. We may have had the most ATTEMPTS of over 25+ yards, but I doubt completions.

With Mr Linehan gone it wil be interesting to see if we go back to the pound it out with the running game approach. If we keep Ricky then maybe yes, if we get TO i say we keep passing it.

Yeah but whats his percentage of completions on those? :rolleyes2
