He's a good pro coordinator.

Outside of those silly, unnessecary reverses that didn't take in consideration down and distance he is a good coach.

Linehan is used to having a certain level of competence at the skill positions and he isn't getting it at the most important spot-QB.

Frerrotte is choking in his last chance to show he's a starting caliber QB. Choking every single week. He's never been an accurate thrower but now he's missing easy throws like Welker in the end zone in Baton Rouge.

Gus makes almost every catch a difficult one and doesn't step into his throws or show any touch.

There's something I don't understand though... regardless of Randy Moss and Minnesota's Offense... didn't Linehan know what he already had in Frerotte?

My main problem with Linehan has been the way he creates tendencies for defenses to clue in on.

I've been complaining about that for a while now and it continued yesterday. In fact, he added another tendency, whenever RW and RB are in the game together, we pass. I think they had like 9 plays together and we passed it 8 times (or something like that)

So, its no wonder on that final play, when RW and RB are in the game together, the falcons play a pass defense.

P.S. Shame on Linehan for not realizing yet that Gus is NOT a pro bowl caliber QB that can carry an offense like Manning, Brady, etc. He needs to adjust his play calling to protect and limit Gus. Like on 3rd and 3 (early in the game) we go shot gun and pass. 3rd and 3 or less should be a running down, or a play action pass down, NOT a spread um out 3+ WRs down.

That's the best point I've seen on the board today.

You make good points. But my question is, where was Linehan going to get a pro bowl caliber QB??

Linehan wasn't....Thats Saban's job. Obviously Saban listened to Linehan about signing Gus....big mistake.

Not sure how you can defend that last play.

Here's how: They know we want to run the ball. They brought a safety to the line to stop it.

We have good skill position guys outside of RB and RW. There were people open on our final offensive play .

Its up to a veteran QB to make the right read and play and Gus choked.

I would think it wasn't a surprise most of the game that the Dolphins wanted to run the football....and when you have less area to work in....it's hard to score...especially when you have a career old QB like Gus playing. The Falcons couldn't stop Brown and Ricky...and you only needed 2 yds....and had 2 downs...the answer is simple....play to your strength...not your weakness.

You might be talking to a bit of a brick wall here. It's the contension of some people that it was only a bad play call and all of the fault should be assigned to Linehan. I agree w/you though, good luck with it.

You probably think it was a big mistake keeping Ricky around too....

Linehan may have had some influence in getting Gus to Miami, but the decision to start him was on Saban. I don't regret his decision, because as bad as Frerotte has been playing lately, Feeley was far worse....

During the first few weeks of the season, Frerotte was among the conference leaders at QB. My point is this. He was making most of the throws early in the season, and then the bottom fell out somehow-somewhere....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

So what they know we want to run it. It still worked when they knew it a few minutes ago....so what?? It is going to work anyway. That is when you totally dominate another team...when you run it down their throat and they know its coming and they know they cannot stop it.

You go with the odds. The odd are that a running play in that situation would have gotten the first down 9 times out of 10. Instead we go AGAINST the odds and get what we have always gotten the past weeks.

reverses are necessary. Anyone who understands football just a little should realize that.

I would say useful, but not necessary.
