In hindsight, do you wish Miami would have spent big on another offensive lineman?

No! Not at all, I'm glad we're going into the season depleted at that position and searching right now for a scrub center

I was never comfortable with our line even before the Pouncey injury. We wouldn't have signed Colledge if Pouncey didn't get hurt meaning we were planning on going with Shelley Smith and Dallas Thomas or the rookie as our guards. And then another rookie at RT in Jawaun James who IMO will not be an upgrade to Clabo. James may become good in time but he will need time. James was a reach because at that point in time he was the best available option for us. And that doesn't guarantee that he will be able to get the job done starting day 1. This line is going to struggle and they will struggle a great deal when we are in obvious passing situations. And I don't even want to think about 3rd and long.

Like a few others have said I wanted an OG long before Mike went down. Shelley is a bad backup at best and should not be considered as starting material. We should have spent the money and gotten at least one of the KC OGs. And like another poster stated I would have much rather have Monroe than Albert, although they are not that much different except Monroe doesn't end up injured every year.

What is so funny is that I was called a hater and a troll for saying how bad our OL was going to be just a month ago. Everyone kept saying how we had made all of these major upgrades to our OL and they were going to be so much better than last year. And I kept saying I didn't see how it was goinig to be better and might be worse. I got killed for saying such things. I must be a dolphin hater. Now more people are seeing what I was seeing a couple months ago.

You might be right, but I will say this, our coaches and players are working their butts off. That means a lot to me!! Realistically, our OL (and team for that matter) is a work in progress. Not saying I am happy, but I am ok with where we are at as long as we make steady improvement.

Take the average high school basketball team and put them on the court against a randomly chosen NBA team. It doesn't matter how hard they work their butts off, they are still going to lose. At some point talent always trumps effort. On offensive line we just don't have the talent to be competitive. Until we do superhuman effort is irrelevant.

Pouncey may be a decent player, but he's an idiot. They got rid of Incognito and Jerry, so why keep the third "Bullygate" member? I wanted him gone after last season; not much difference in replacing 4 or 5 o-linemen. A smart move would have been to trade him before or during the draft. Now he's out for possibly half the season, so he has to be replaced anyway.

Actually, I'd rather have Incognito on the team than Pouncey, although Cogs would need a babysitter to stay out of trouble.

Not hindsight, but I wanted Miami to address RT in FA. And unless are long-term plans for Billy Turner at OT, I don't understand why we drafted him over Trai Turner - who has played well to this point for Carolina.

With Albert getting a big contract, and Pouncey due for one next year, I'm glad we didn't spend big on another OL position. We do have other positions on this team to fill out, so spending too much in one area can get you into trouble. You have to be able to plug in some cheaper emerging players to supplement the big contracts.

Its not like we didn't try. I remember bringing in several top OL free agents. Just cuz your interested doesn't mean they are gonna sign. I can't understand the dislike for James. Hes gonna be solid. Nfl ready RT right there

Well it seems we've drafted a few over the years. As it was mentioned I'd rather give our homegrown guys a few seasons to grow into solid starters as opposed to throwing money at FA to over compensate. That's been our MO for a while and it has hurt us more than help us. I don't think our O-line woes will be as severe if Pouncey can get back on the field sooner rather than later.

I wouldn't have minded them landing a RT in FA, drafting a C in middle rounds (Marcus Martin, for example), and moving Pouncey to OG. Of course, I wasn't counting on Pouncey being injured and doing nothing about it until the offseason was almost over, but that would still leave us in better shape than the mystery middle we're stuck with now.
