yea, its gonna be weird seeing his name on the back of his jersey next season.

He cut it off sometime last week, we had like 2 seperate threads for it lol.

I glanced at this quick and thought it said "Davone Bess cut"

Did the coaching staff tell him to cut those nasty ropes? The players hair should be under their helmet's IMHO.

Oh, I thought you said "cut his head off".

I thought, what else can go wrong this offseason? :)

its called, GROWING UP!! MATURING!!

good for devon. and obviously, its important for him to be a GOOD role model.

that crap looked SILLY and its bad enough on a teenager or young adult, but as a man, a true adult, theres NO place for it.

you listening OMAR?

Its ridiculous and ignorant to say dreads look stupid and theres no place for it. Let me guess your 40+ in age?

No more dreads? He should be as fast as Ted Ginn now.

Sadly, I know this is actually how you feel, but if you were troll, you'd be an epic one.

Everyone has cut their dreads here. Chris Bosh, Jose Reyes, and now Davone Bess.

Nothing wrong with dreds. It just hurts like a biatch when you get tackled by them. They do count as part of uniform and ask any NFL player its the worst pain in world getting tackled by them.

well, i am past the 40 year old mark and in 1984 i could tie my hair in a pony tail and tuck it in the back of my belt!

i played professional music and there was a place for it at that time. it fit with my profession and i made a good living with it, it wasnt working against me. but, to older, TRUELY mature people, it looked goofy and imature. and when i was between bands and needed a straight job, when i got off the road and gave full time music, my health and sanity a rest, my hair cost me a LOT of dough! a LOT of opportunity! you can NOT change society and the way people view you. long hair, dreads, are ALL associated with rebelion and thug life in MOST of society, at least the society that makes any difference.

i kept my hair around a lot longer than i should have and it cost me. back then, i would have given the same imature replies some of you have given me here. but, i was NOT mature then and didnt realize how i was reflecting, that my image had no place and was not welcome in mature, productive society and i was NO role model other than to budding young metal musicians, junkies, convicts, etc...., my look was cool and acceptable to them.

you will change your opinion as you grow up, or you should anyways.

if you wear that sort of thing, or support it, ask yourself a PERSONAL question, who am i really trying to impress with this look? what kind of people do i attract with it? who do i repel? how is it effecting my future? how is it going to effect those who may look up to me and their future? because like it or not, alternative looks dont fly in most professional atmospheres and business and those who make a life commitment to it end up paying a HUGE price.

no, not everyone who sports a dred or other alternative style is a thug or low life. but, that IS whats associated with it in our society, most of the worlds polite society, the ones who decide weather you succeed or not, the ones who decide if you eat and pay your rent. thats reality and fighting it keeps you on welfare and gives a low image role model to a young person who may be influenced by you. yes, a person who has already made millions and live how they want through sports, music, acting, they can afford to look like they want and thefre is no consequence. but what about the other 99% of young people whos only future is in main stream society working in business, a corporation, public service, law, medicine, etc...... ? they see there role models with these looks and hear their spiels about freedom and bucking society and individualism, etc... but, they dont realize they cant afford those stands on life like a multi millionaire, self emplyed successful person can and what it will cost them by adopting it and fighting any change to maturity and reality.

yeah. thats what being 40+ yrs old does.. and even more at 50! it should. i was a little late getting these points but THANK GOD it didnt take me to age 40 to figure that out. i would have cheated myself out of so much positive and gainful things in my life had i not. and by that time, its to late, you have cooked yourself and your future. thats why so many of us "trolls, squares, racists, old farts, rednecks," whatever the cute word of the day is make these kind of posts, why we take you aside and fill your ear because if we dont plant the seed when your young, its GAME OVER by the time your 40. LONG over.

i am chuckling right now because i cant tell you how many times i laid out these same spiels to my folks, teachers, employers, concerned adults and others about their "ignorant" opinion of my look.

you will see. and you will laugh and someday most of you will chuckle to at some youngster telling you how ignorant you are for dissing his braided eye brows and chrome stud implanted scalp. and you will laugh at remembering telling off that NRA clown who commended a young man for taking that next step into adult hood on the dolphins board. you will ask yourself over and over, was i REALLY that dumb?

hopefully you will. otherwise, enjoy the cuisine at the soup line and that basement studio apt with your porn collection, x box and food stamp card. [and that sweet vintage snoop dog t-shirt that the chix really dig!]

keep it real cuz!!
