I think the main reason he is on a ton of threads is because it is 4 years later and that's about the time you get itchy. There is also a huge divide on RT. Management loves him, but I think coaches see him as a game manager. Sprinkle in the salary he gets for two years and it is a great debate. The biggest issue, however, is what it will take, if anything, for him to crack a top 8. There seems to be fluid excuses for him, coaching, line, scheme, audibles, etc...And frankly no one wants to get burned if we cut him and he succeeds, however, no one wants to hold onto a player too long
The best outcome is that no matter what he stays till 2017. We are forced to based on contract. I think it is safe to say that a full 5 years or part of it is enough. In the meantime, if we can hire a gifted offensive mind as HC or OC, let them do their evals. We have to trust them, right? And I hope the FO is objective too. If the evals come back that we need to move in the future with a qb, then it will depend on just how aggressive and how fast they want to do that....maybe a trade in the draft or bring a vet in (or both). We cannot be afraid to shake things up even if someone has a huge contract. That can be worked around.
