From Barry Jackson:

Explains the Sam Young and Travis Swanson moves:

For those wondering why the Dolphins would cut Sam Young one day and sign him the next - or sign Travis Swanson and cut him the next - there are valid reasons behind them.

Among them: In order to make room for the two players claimed off waivers Sunday (Luke Falk and Tanner McEvoy), the Dolphins needed to clear roster spots by 4 p.m. Sunday. Miami did that by quietly releasing John Denney and Young.

They then made room to quickly re-sign Denney by placing Mike Hull on injured reserve and created one open roster spot by placing Jake Brendel on injured reserve.

So Eric Smith chose the Patriots practice squad over ours. They do need tackles more than us.

They (NE) also have the coaches to turn average players into quality starters. Look at their OL.

LT: 7th round
LG: 3rd
C: UDFA
RG: 4th
RT: 5th round

I’ve never seen as much interest in pre season maneuvering as this year

That's because it's a new format with the cuts. The rosters used to have to be cut in steps, this year it's like a big free for all with all the cuts coming basically in one day.

I like this little blurb by Gase
[General Manager Chris Grier] did a great job putting this draft class together to where these guys, they’re getting thrown in there and they’re executing

I guess we know who's shopping for the Groceries

They have 12 and 87, that's the answer to all of there woes. Brady was sacked more than Cutler last year and he's like the best at avoiding sacks via getting the ball out quick or throwaways. The Patriots overcome all shortcomings with some combination of Brady/Gronk or elite slot WR and pass catching RB;s that nobody has answers for. Never kid yourself into thinking their roster is great.

Where did I say their roster was great? I talked about coaching. Another HUGE part of their success.....Bill Bellichick. They did have a top 5 defense last year (points allowed).

They always do. It's amazing with the talent they roll out there. Once Hightower went down their front 7 was about as talent void as you can get. They were rolling Trevor Reilly out there at times who is a Dolphin cast off. Belechick's bend but don't break scheme is about the best there is out there. Teams go up and own the field on them and settle for field goals or don't score.

Outside of the qb and gronk patriots don’t really have any top shelf talent on the team. Heck the roster is pretty marginal.

They do it with scheme. Offense and defense. They let gronk dictate coverages played and situational football looks from the dcs they face and work off of them.

And they have a win slot in Edelman who wouldn’t do as much if not for gronks presence.

No room at the inn after he got passed over little surprised thought he would stick. If Sterrupt is a upgrade though I will take it as tackles are hard to come by. Young is panning out didn't think he would a couple of years ago.
