please people, enough with the revolving door of qbs...our o-line is a joke right now and until that is fixed any young qb we put in there is going to look the same. if we can't run and pass, i don't think it's just the qb...fix the o-line first. then see if the qb can play! it's like getting a new light bulb for the same light that goes out due to a wiring problem. whatever light bulb you put in will have the same problem until you fix the 'real' problem!

On offence, everything starts and ends with the O line , no one seems to understand this? Miami's biggest problem still is the O line, better O line and Frerotte and the running game WOULD improve.

I agree we do need a good stable line. But right now who are we going to replace and who is going to stay. And we really do need a good qb. The only way I see us doing that is having a bad year pick first draft a good young Qb. And then with the rest of the picks we get we fill needed holes like oline.

I don't know...my purpose for this thread was just to make sure people knew the real problem and stopped blaming the qbs when the o-line isn't giving them time and aren't making any holes for the RBs...we had like 50 yards rushing, that's horrible as well...

We're simply not explosive or athletic enough on the OL to even concern a team like the Steelers. In a regular season game it would be much uglier than tonight in the trenches.

I watched Carey every play. He has many solid plays going straight ahead and gives fine effort, but make no mistake he is going to get swallowed by premier rush ends in the regular season. He sets up very shallow and his upper body positioning is not close to ideal for LT. We're already sliding help his way, keeping the TE or a back in so Carey is not one-on-one.

Still, the main deficit is the interior. McKinney is a journeyman athlete and player. If we even found an agile center with a burst the entire line would improve immeasurably.

I don't think there is one legitimate NFL caliber starter on our O-Line. We might as well just cut the lot of them and use 5 portable turnstiles instead. Those guys are pathetic.

No, our QB position is much more of a problem right now. The fact is we have faced 3 very good defensive fronts and each week the line has improved. When you face a team like the Steelers you are going to have pressure on the QB, and trouble running the ball. That is how it is. They are a very good defense. I thought our O-line did an OK job against them tonight. They could have done a little better opening holes for the running game, but we didn't really run the ball that much. Gus came out throwing early and often and looked awful in the process. If you have a bad QB it doesnt matter what the line does (unless they are a top unit) because it will be hard to move the ball. You can't sit here and expect these guys to dominate the Steelers. But they certainly weren't nearly as bad as they were last year. So no, I would have to say I am more concerned about the QBs right now.

we could help ourselves by picking up other teams cuts, especially at center

the OL will take patience and time, whil the QB is going to require a big move

oline was ok, they did not turnover the ball nine times

No, but they weren't even as effective as a speed-bump in slowing down Pittsburgh's pass-rush on the play where Frerotte fumbled. Tackling dummies block better than our O-Line.

this o-line is going to get manhandled again next week, I can sense it. Tampa has one of the fastest D's, and I have a feeling all of our QBs will be on their backs.....a lot
