Instead of paying Achane

Probably not in that scenario. Good chance some flavor of WR / Edge / Tackle / CB will be available at ~15. Our needs are many.

I would include him in a trade to move up and grab a QB though, even if that means resigning him this offseason knowing he may be a chip in the '27 draft. Just need to find a way to make the next contract movable.

I would also consider trading down this year if we could pick up assets for '27, even out of the 1st round. Our team is too good to keep tanking so we will likely need to trade up for Tua's replacement even if it means planting the seeds of that trade a year early.
 
I wanted these idiots to draft cam skattebo and pair him with Achane. Glad Grier got fired, he was a ****ing idiot.
 
A new GM with a minimum of 2 functioning brain synapses will extend Achane after the post-June 1 cap space comes available. The era of letting our rare productive draft picks walk for day-3 compensatory picks needs to end.
 
Not a lot of RB's make it to their second contract with the same team. Most teams go with the cheaper option of a younger player unless the back is a pure stud for them in the first contract.

Taylor and Stephenson are the most recent. Most of the others moved to new teams. We extended Ronnie Brown back in the day and his production fell. Probably shouldn't have.

I like Achane, he has a chance to break some of Ricky's team records. Tough decision. I would find a way to keep him even though it goes against league norm.
 
Right now, Achane IS the offense! I would not trade him at all. I think we should concentrate on dumping overpaid, often injured players. Find a REAL head Coach and GM with a physical, tough philosophy and build through the draft. That being said, everyone has his price. Achane would not move from Miami for less than a 1st IMO.
