Citing three NFL sources, the Denver Post reports the Broncos have placed WR Brandon Lloyd on the trading block.
The asking price is a draft pick in the Round 3-5 range. "Three or four" teams have expressed interest, including the Titans and Panthers. As a 30-year-old coming off a career season and set to hit free agency in 2012, Lloyd is an obvious trade candidate for a rebuilding team. He'd be a useful pickup at a relatively cheap cost for a team with a receiver need. With Demaryius Thomas and Eddie Royal returning from injuries, there's depth at the position in Denver while the offenses goes into ball control mode under Tim Tebow.

I think we could use a better number 2 receiver, I'd like us to trade for Lloyd, what do you think?

No point trading a 3rd or 5th unless we plan on giving him the kind of contract he is going to demand at season's end. That's why the price is so low. You don't set a 3rd-5th tender on one of the best receivers in the game unless you've already given up on paying him the next contract. And what he's going to demand is a ton of money. I don't touch this with our current situation, but Luck/Barkley/Jones would be pretty deadly with Marshall and Lloyd...

sure he would be a great compliment to Marshall. As long as we could sign him to a 4-5 year contract i would send them a 4th.

Like the post above says, he's 30. Even if we get Luck and him, by the time Luck has us ready to contend for a Super Bowl, he'll be washed up and on the downside of his career. Might as well keep the draft pick especially when we have a lot of money invested in Marshall anyways.

Now if we could do a Marshall for Lloyd swap and get a pick back in return than it would be interesting.

Great QBs don't just happen. They have to have pieces around them to help them develop. If we could get 3 good years out of a savvy veteran to help tutor Luck until he's ready to carry the team himself, then its a great investment.

If you follow the belief that you want new (young) receivers to go with your new (young) QB, you are setting everyone up to fail. Young QBs need a support system.

It might be easy to say "this rookie QB" did well with "this rookie WR", but their are invisible pieces within the situation and organization that truly lead to developing a successful young QB. All great QBs were graced with unknown or underappreciated support systems around them designed to promote success. Whether it be QB coach, HC, LT, C, WR, TE, RB, Defense, all or some.

To be honest, we do have a LOT of pieces in place for a young QB to succeed (Long, Pouncey, Marshall, Bess, Fasano, defense, DC, etc). But I don't know how much of the talent will survive a regime change. Which is what is needed to correct the problem we have. The HC and Offensive Coaching are killing us. To replace all that typically means new players who believe in the new coaches and fit their system.

IF Fist Pump was the Chin and we were simply replacing our OC, I would say Lloyd would be a great addition for an incoming young QB. But that's not the case. Honestly, the best move at this point is to do nothing until we have a new regime. Otherwise, we are wasting time, picks and money on moves the new regime may destroy when they walk in the door.

With a new regime to most certainly to be coming in next year, I am not open to spending any draft picks. we need to amass as many as possible. If anything we should purge dead weight, and get more picks.

Lloyd>Hartline...regardless! Lets make a move for a 5th and Hartline and get in a good #2...ppl were asking for Plax who is 34....why not Lloyd? Id do it...Hartline is a great player but not a threat at WR, hes a James Jones type, who would be a fantastic #4, but not #2.

Why on earth would anyone trade for a 30 year old #2 WR? Is this supposed to make Matt Moore better? Is trading away picks when we are the worst team in the league a great idea? Notice how no other team in the league has jumped at getting Lloyd for a 5th. Thats because they arent stupid.

Definitely worth a 5th but he'll end up in Tennessee. No way he doesn't imo.
