"I had a tough time picking up those low balls today."I read that as..."had it been thrown correctly, I would have made the play." I'm sure this was said in frustration, but how should it be interpreted? Is he justified or is he making excuses?

I think he was straight up. He wasn't blaming Frerotte, he was saying that he was struggling at times.

Yet another QB to fault for having butter fingers......

I dont think that is him making excuses, he is just admitting he couldn't catch the low ball today, which was, of course, the case...

Excuses.. he had two balls throw right in his hands/arms today and flat out dropped them.. An "A" type reciever catches that last pass... yes it was low, but it his his hands and should have been caught. The pass he dropped when Gus was scrambling was a killer too.

dude he dropped passes that were not low too.
also, many times the qb has to throw the ball low to avoid picks off the dbs.
as a wr, you need to catch those.
it's kind of expected in the nfl..."oh i catch everything but the low ones"... that sound right to you?

Chambers stunk it up today. No one to blame but himself for the drops

I think it was a characteristically "decent" thing for him to say... ;)

Hold Up

I listened to the interview. He said....

"I had a tough time catching the low balls for whatever reason today. I believe I didn't look the ball in the correct way. I'm really not a body catcher to tell you the truth. I just gotta do a better job of trusting my hands."

The question was whether or not he felt there were drops he could have caught today. He said absolutely and put it on himself. He wasn't making excuses. He was taking responsibility.

He also said that Gus gave them the opportunities today like they asked.

Excuse up the wazoo. Shut up, Mr. Decent and play. Excuses are for losers.

Chris needs to make those catches...that is why he gets paid the big bucks.

And Frerotte needs to place the ball better, that's why he gets paid the big bucks. They are both at fault, not one over the other.

So wait, Chris can only catch balls perfectly thrown then? Gonna be a long time before CC ever plays with a QB who throws the perfect pass everytime.
