Saw this this morning and started chuckling. Bringing him back here has been suggested on the boards...apparently Carroll wants to re-sign with the Eagles, and he dropped this little quote:

"I just fell in love with how the city is and how the fans are, how the organization is," he said. "Everybody is welcoming. Everybody loves each other. That’s something you don’t see in a lot of organizations and a lot of people."

He's only played with one other organization. Thank God we finally cleaned out a lot of the organization over the past couple years.

Philly fans . . . welcoming and loving . . . riiiiiiight?

Someone wants to get paid.

His mother, Florida's Lt Governor under Scott is a piece of work too (and not necessarily in a good way). Good riddance.

A former staffer of Florida Lieutenant Governor Jennifer Carroll said she was fired last year after she caught her former boss and another female aide in "a compromising position" in Carroll's office, according to a court filing.

The ex-office aide, Carletha Cole, 49, was arrested last year on charges she illegally leaked taped conversations of Carroll's staff to a Florida newspaper reporter.

Defending herself against the charges, Cole alleges in a court filing the lieutenant governor fired her shortly after she walked in on the Republican leader and the staff member in Carroll's capitol office.

Jennifer Carroll, abruptly resigned on Tuesday, the result of a criminal investigation into an Internet sweepstakes company for which she once served as a consultant.

Ms. Carroll, 53, the first African-American woman to serve as lieutenant governor in Florida, had soared in state Republican politics in the past decade. But her tenure as lieutenant governor has been marred by scandal and poor judgment, and Ms. Carroll was increasingly viewed as an embarrassment to the man who chose her for the job. Gov. Rick Scott. He remains unpopular in the state and is expected to face a tough re-election battle.

Welp, I was more pointing out the organizational dysfunction.

As a Fins fan who moved to the Philly area early in life (before the Heat, Marlins and Panthers existed), I will tell you this: Philly fans are incredibly loyal to their heroes. Say what you want about them...well, "us," I suppose, but there is decidedly an element of tough love in that city.

True story: In the mid 80s, there was a young Flyers goalie named Pelle Lindbergh who was just an amazing talent. Won the Vezina Trophy in 84-85, and was off to an even better start in 85-86. He got drunk one night, missed a turn, and drove his Porsche right into the corner of the steps of a school about a mile from my high school. If he'd hit maybe 2' to the right, he would have slid down the wall, and probably would have been ok. Brain dead on impact, taken off life support shortly thereafter. Cut a promising career tragically short, and probably cost the Flyers a Stanley Cup.

For decades, up until at least a few years ago, on the anniversary of his death, people would go to that spot and leave memorabilia, and paint (vandalize?) Flyers logos onto that spot. I may or may not have had a hand in that for a few years.

You can say a lot about Philly fans, but if you bring your lunch pail to work every day and at least TRY to love where you play, they will welcome and love you. That is not a question.

dont overthink everything

How? Chip Kelly and crew are all gone. It isn't even the same people in Philly anymore.

Excellent question, and I thought the same thing. One of the reasons I thought it was a not-so-thinly veiled shot at Ireland/Philbin

Bring him back by all means, decent number 2 for not too much $

This site ranks Lincoln Financial Field as the #1 most dangerous arena in the world for opposing fans. Two other Philadelphia venues are also ranked in the 20 most dangerous stadiums.. that's in the world, not the US!

.. And I believe Philly fans once boo'ed and threw snowballs at Santa Claus. So I guess it's all relative, eh?

Indeed it is. That is clearly Ben Fisher's perspective. Here are some other gems that Ben Fisher has penned for that site:

- "Top 10 Athletes Who Have Been Single Forever."
- "Top 15 Wrestlers We'd Love To See Turn Heel."
- "Top 15 Matches We'd Love To See At WrestleMania 32."
- "Top 20 NHL Players Who Hate Each Other."
- "Top 20 Wrestlers Who Have Bashed The WWE."
- "Top 15 Matches The WWE Can't Wait To See."

Are you sure this is the guy you want to use as your reference?

Again, not saying Philly Sports Fans don't have a well-deserved rep. But let's not pretend stuff like Browns fans throwing beer bottles, Giants and Dodgers fans hospitalizing each other, and Yankees fans throwing whatever they can get their hands on onto the field doesn't happen.

you don't like Fisher? Let's rip this guy apart next who also ranks Lincoln Financial as THE MOST hostile stadium
http://www.fromthisseat.com/index.php/blog/16755-5-of-the-most-hostile-nfl-stadiums

or this forum poll that ranks Philly a close second to Oakland for scariest NFL fanbase
http://forums.prosportsdaily.com/showthread.php?341384-Most-dangerous-and-or-scariest-NFL-fanbase

bottom line: Nolan Carroll (and his bent mom for that matter) can stay there in Philly.. they deserve each other.

Hey man, don't get all persnickety. You chose the first source. ;)

And again, we're still straying from my original point, which is that Carroll may have been taking a shot at the old Fins regime.

I'd take him in a heartbeat

and this is false? everyone acts like Mami has been a stand-up organization for years. there's a reason why we have been mediocre
