Out scoping the JAGS and stumbled across some interesting stuff... These fans are split on GARRAD... This particular post says it all...

http://mb.jaguars.com/Topic129236-6-1.aspx

Zero 3rd down conversions in the entire game outside of the one in the last drive, 4 sacks, and the fact that his two TD's where the result of JDR pading his stats while not only trying to make DG look good, but while also making it look like the #1 picks are actually a part of his game plan for once this season. What a joke.
DG looked lost in the pocket. No coach padding his stats or saying he was great can take that away. Get clue. You think he did hot this week against a secondary posing rookies as safeties? Just wait till we get to Miami. I love seeing you DG fans in denial of just how pathetic our starting QB is. Watching you squirm in your desperate attempt to make chicken soup out of chicken .... is hillarious. Thanks I needed the laugh.

That forum looks a little like finheaven. they're arguing over QBs and whether or not their coach sucks.

Let's not forget the absolute FITS Garrard's mobility gave us in the pre-season, of course.

That said, our secondary was caught badly out of position in that game because they were new to the system, so when Garrard scrambled he could take advantage of our coverage breakdowns. That shouldn't happen at this point of the season. The key will be KEEPING CONTAIN on Garrard... that means guys like Roth cannot get TOO over eager in their outside pass rush and get behind Garrard. We are pretty good at collapsing the pocket, but that could, oddly, work against us on a big play or two when it forces Garrard to evacuate the pocket and he ends up hitting someone deep in the secondary.

Garrard aside, I am very concerned about us having to rely on Joey in a more lopsided way this week. Last week we had a running game to keep their D honest, but this week we face a great D-line, especially the DT's inside. Now, Ronnie is out and that may hurt us (since he's a gret runner between the tackles) but I actually think it may help us, since a lower-your-shoulder power-runner won't get far against the oversized Jags interior line... it's almost better to have a more elusive back (Travis Minor etc... or even Sammy Morris). They aren;t as talented, but I think their running style may be more effective than Roinnie's, since he seems to enjoy contact.

Well, I certainly hope these offensive problems they're complaining about continue.

Couple things that I found interesting was the fact that they only threw 2-3 passes to their WRs during the game... I am sure the FINS will capture that on tape...

Another would be that they went to the air immediately in the second half... Granted they were done by a TD, but either the BILLS stuffed the run or they abandoned it... I didn't see the game and am hope that it will be one that NFL NETWORK replays this week...

Let us not forget the fact that Gerard was playing our 3-4 string CBs...and against our 3-4 string DL and LBs...and no defensive gameplanning what so ever...

It is completely different in terms of a regular season game...

We beat the Jags this weekend, no doubt. Joey will play well, Jags won't even think of any repeat performance of their WR's vs. our revamped secondary. We get to 6-6 this week. Go Fins!

Also well to remember that a lot of the secondary that got caught out of position are no longer with the team.

In the preseason game they scored on 4 big plays and made practically no other plays whatsoever. They were forced to keep their first string O on the field a lot longer than they wanted, to try and get some kind of score going.

Everything was vanilla but our big-bodied OL actually did ok on their big-bodied DL...and that was back before our OL started playing well. Our first string D was stifling on their first string O.

The downside to playing Garrard is that you have to take JT out of pass rush mode and spy him on Garrard a lot of the time...but that's really the best thing to do. The rest of our DL will have to find ways to pressure up the middle.

Thats because the majority of their fanbase were Finfans until J Ville got a team.

Don't you think that some of the QB spy duties will be split amongst the LBs and safties? (other than Jason) I don't think we'll take our best pass rusher and make him watch the QB all day.

Spying a safety on a QB is usually a bad idea.

Linebackers will take some of the duty but remember, they're going to have their hands full with Maurice Drew and Fred Taylor. You lose sight of Drew and he takes it 50 yards for a TD on a simple screen.

I think you do it a number of ways. You swing Jason Taylor out wide on some plays into a zone. You blitz off the corner regularly, perhaps getting Yeremiah Bell involved back in what he does extremely well. Then you stay disciplined in your rush.

I could see a lot of 3-4 fronts being used in this game.

Usually, but it can be worked in.

I'm confident that Zach and Crowder will have their RBs on their checklist this game. Zach has proggresivley played better since about week 8 and I expect him to continue. Crowder should just key on their backs while Zach spends about 10 percent of his playtime watching Garrard. I'd like us to throw different things at them like some zone blitzes with big men dropping back. This offense is really vanilla.

I shudder at the preseason. The way we talk about it you'd think those games counted.

Garrard is toast on Sunday
