Interesting interview w/Armstead on Eisen's show

So, apparently both of those guys like Malik as our QB of the future. If Terron, who is extremely intelligent, believes Malik is the answer then as long as Sully, and our new coach, agree then try to bring Malik down. Sure there will be a lot of competition, but a contact could be worked out.

Willis is going to get overpaid this offseason. I don’t think we can afford it. Sully said himself don’t expect any big FA signings. I think they rather take a swing at someone they can develop.

-22million on the cap right now. Only around 30 players on contract. You could argue Brandon shore could rework contracts, but that would create void years and more dead money down the road.

53 players under contract. 36-51 don’t play but still representing around a million per spot.

I agree though Willis is not a smart idea. We need to get out of spending at the qb position, not keep adding more money to it.

Not a fan of paying a 27 year old QB who has 6 NFL starts big money. He was terrible on the Titans. He looked good this year in GB, but realistically he started 1 game so it’s an extremely limited sample size. Play Ewers in 2026. Draft a QB in 2027. If we cut Tua, his dead cap will be off the books in 2028 and we have a rookie QB contract to build around.

Man, playing with the "manage roster" option on there and it gets really ugly to try to get under that cap unless you do a bunch of extensions. I post June 1st designated Tua and Hill. I released Chubb, Jackson, Daniels, Ingold, Saunders, Minkah and Westbrook and only got 2 mil under the cap. It left me with 46 players and a lot of those won't see the field. Oh, and I converted Brooks cap number to some bonuses to get cap relief. They need some tricky work unless they push more cap down the road.

Hill is a regular cut or trade. That’s the one move they have to take significant cap off and they need that cap early. June 1st you don’t get until June 1st which will make them not cap compliant.

Jackson and Daniels make no sense to cut they don’t save anything. Keep them as fringe starters while trying to replace through draft.

Also not that it’s much but that cap number on the calculator is slightly higher than it should be. Probably closer to 22-25 over the cap.

Tyreek, ingold and sanders cut will put us under the cap. It’ll be pennies under but still under. That’s the easiest and simplest route. From there you can go multiple ways but I’m not just cutting Chubb or minkah. Both have value, not much but probably could get a 4th or so for each.

Also worth noting and why I also find it crazy that people are so adamant is that cutting Tua adds an additional 11 million. This is why it’s not like Russell Wilson, his deal wasn’t fully guaranteed for the year so while it was a heavy hit it’s was a net positive move in which they gained cap. Tua is purely either net negative 11 million or negative 43. Not nearly the same.

Thanks. I didn't realize that about Tua's contract. So, cutting just those three gets us cap compliant immediately. That's good to know. It's only 3 mil under if the cap is what they project. If it's higher, then we get more breathing room. I would still be looking to trade veteran pieces that will be too old or two expensive or free agents in two years (at minimum) when we might be competitive again.

I’d offer Cowboys a 3rd rd pick for Joe Milton. Then draft Taylor Green. See if you hit lightning in a bottle. If not. Get our guy in 27 draft

As much as that may become an answer for us, we have a salary cap issue to deal with, so if it becomes a biding war for his services, Miami might not be able to compete.

Realistically, because he has not been a starter, his contract should be more of a Prove it contract, and with Miami having former Packers people, Dolphins should be considered a high possibility, but if teams like Browns and Cards start raising the contract amount, If Sully is not like Grier, Miami will quickly drop out of trying to sign for his services.

Right now I put the possibility of getting him at 50/50. We're the logical landing spot, but in a position that if any other team gets involved, we could fail early to get him.
