Interesting POSITIVE ESPN/Grantland Dolphins Preview

i just think the similarities are coaching and change in system. brees was good in san diego but made even better with peyton's O.

Henne is about to become much better.

another similarity. Both got to use reggie bush. cant wait til next monday!

The Dolphins start with a ridiculously difficult schedule that sees them play the Patriots, Texans, Browns, Chargers, and Jets. Even if they're a good team, they could start 0-5 or 1-4, fall out of love with Henne and Sparano, and be in the middle of a season that's DOA
It's hard to be positive about this possibility. However, how did the Browns become part of the difficult schedule?

Huge reach. Henne is much bigger than Brees. Dude has no idea what he's talking about. Strange to see that come from Grantland since Simmons thinks we're going to be absolutely **** awful this year.

For what? What Bill Simmons does is tangentially about sports.
I disagree. What Simmons gets at is at the very heart of sports. He's not a stat guy. He's not an analyst. I'm not even sure if he played pee-wee football, or any other sport for that matter. He is a fan though, a super-fan at that, and he is able to express the feeling of fandom better than any writer out there. On top of that, he's a sports trivia junkie, so that adds alot too.

That aside, obviously not all the articles are written by Simmons, so even if you can't appreciate his fan-centric style, there is plenty of other sports writing to get into.

I felt that Hennes picks were held on to at a freakishly high rate, good to see stats back that up. I would bet Sanchez is at the opposite end of that spectrum as DBs never seem to hold on to his picks.

Henne isn't undersized. But 6'2 is about as short as you want your quarterback to be. The "ideal" now is more like 6'4 or 6'5. Then again, isn't Aaron Rodgers slightly shorter than 6'2? And Vick and Brees stand no taller than 6'.

At the same time, those "shorter" quarterbacks all have one thing in common. They're all above average athletes with good pocket presence. Henne isn't (and doesn't). He's a pocket passer, and most of those guys are taller than he is.

Henne looked considerably faster on his feet during preseason, that is during scrambles. I mean, he had more yards rushing that Cam Newton. LOL - seriously, though, maybe its something he's not known for, but he might be able to extend a drive or two picking up some yards with his feet.
