interesting stuff regarding there progression

I think the combine and senior bowl are just ways for players to turn an avg college career into a huge debut and paycheck in the NFL. The bigger the rookie paycheck and guaranteed money becomes for high DP's the more it will happen, you know ther're agents like, "turn it up a notch for the next month, and you could be a first round pick." even though they weren't considered a first round pick at the end of their final college season (see Jay Cutler). It's a disturbing trend,.

Jay Cutler was a first round pick at the end of last season, he was just a 15-25 pick, not a top 15 pick before the senior bowl and work outs.

It was cool to see the positions and who did well. We had many of those guys come through the team. We had like half of the linebackers on our team at one time or another.

ya tha twas the depressing part.

Lol at the comments regarding Chad Johnson and Freddie Mitchell.

I've saved the best for last. The player who most improved his draft position at the WR spot was without question UCLA's Freddie Mitchell.

Johnson ran a far-less-than-expected 4.58, not showing the burst during the 40 that was on display this past season at Oregon State. While this obviously didn't help maintain Johnson's position in the top 10 overall, what he now has to do is nail his individual workout and hope that his performance on the field overrides the sub-par 40

Its funny how stuff works out.

Yeah, that was definitely the thing that stood out the most as I was reading the article. It said Johnson was a top ten pick before he dissapointed at the combine, and I believe he was taken in the second round. Whereas Freddie Mitchell and his "blessed hands" impressed at the combine but obviously didn't do jack in the pros. Thats the perfect example that games are played in pads, not shorts. Draft the guys that perform well in the games, not the combine.

He was on a terrible Vandy team, he never even played in a Bowl game. I think the guy could have a good career, but I don't see anything special in him. I remember at last years combine they were talking about being surpised how much he had jumped from the end of the college season to Draft day, he wasn't even a blip on the radar whne his season ended. I heard anywhere from 3rd to 2nd round or bascially a fist day pick but certainlly not a first rounder, thats what I remember.

He was a late first rounder before the offseason, just most fans had never heard of him, because he played for Vanderbilt. Draftniks and GMs had certainly known about him.
