Interesting little tidbit. As much as Detroit fans blame Harrington for all their problems.....

"...the Lions are 1-14 since 2002 in games started by quarterbacks not named "Joey Harrington." "

and are also currently 0-5

Over the period of Millen's leadership as team CEO, the Detroit Lions own the NFL's worst winning percentage.

That should show you just how much talent and coaching that organization has had for years. At least Joey got 18 Ws in the 4 years he played with them. Hell, Sage, AJ, just about any 2nd or 3rd stringer QB on our team could eek out more then 1 win in 4 1/2 seasons thus far. What's the point? Is he a godsend? No. But if given the chance he can be a good QB. Too bad he's 2 months behind the comfort level he should be at if Saban would have planned on Harrington starting the season and let him work with the 1st stringers all offseason and the first month of the season while Culpepper worked on "healing".

Now Detroit fans will maybe wake up and realize where their real problems lie and hopefully Joey can help us out in the short-termn.

Thanks for the statistics...I knew they were bad without harrington but not that bad. Wow.

No one ever understands how much Lions fans have had to endure...

50 years and just 1 playoff win.

Just because their backups were worse doesn't mean Harrington was good. It just means their other QBs were horrible.

It's a point of emphasis as to the overall surrounding talent and coaching etc. on the team as a whole. You don't understand? When backup QBs on a team (or even starters) can't win more then 1 game in 4 1/2 seasons and your starting QB can only win an avg. of 4 1/2 games a season for 18 Ws during the same timeframe.....that team/organization has a hell of a lot of serious problems. Most 2nd/3rd stringers aren't the greatest and will lose more then they win.......but 1 W in 4 1/2 years by backups or other "starters" like this year? Doesn't hold water, sorry.

Nice article. I think folks need to give Harrington the benefit of the doubt and not judge him by what happened in Detroit. That is a joke of a franchise and there he was never in a situation to excel. He may never pan out. We don't know that yet. Alot of QBs have SIGNIFICANTLY improved after changing teams. He should be given a clean slate and let's see what happens. I like his attitude, his smarts, his team first mentality and his agressive and up-tempo style. This offense definetly can use that.

Its obvious Joey had no team around him and very possible he is a far better QB than Detroit was willing to admit. I have seen him throw when he was at Detroit and he has an incredibly accurate arm. Put a decent team around him and he might just be a heck of a QB. Lets find out, trade him to a good team! (JUST KIDDING GUYS!)

Just remember that Joey wanted to leave Detroit, not the other way around.

Yep. McMahon got cut by the Eagles after the season and then picked up by the Vikings and then cut by them too.

NO, it means the entire organization is horrible.

Didn't Millen just get an extension? Shows you the ineptitude goes well beyond the players and coaches.

I don't know if he got an extension but it would not surprise me. That organization cares nothing about winning or knows how to. If they could not build a winner (with the exception of their fluke '91 season) around Barry Sanders how could they around Joey H?
