If the Dolphins lose their next two games, I expect the team might then want to try one of their existing assistant coaches as interim head coach for the remaining 7 games of the season. From this list of the Dolphins current staff, do you have a guess as to which staffer might get appointed interim head coach?

I want to keep McD in HC position because he s young and will learn of his error and all competitive franchise have long HC tenure.

We need this continuity at HC but with another GM

but I would promote Wes Welker at OC and let s him calling offensive play.....

So to your question......i woulg go with Welker

McDaniel needs to go along with Grier! A complete house cleaning is needed badly because half measures never work! Besides what GM candidate would want to come here and be stuck with McDaniel as the head coach? They would want to hire their own guy.

We're in year 3 and he still hasn't learned to call in the play quicker. Wisdom comes from experience and he has 3 years worth so maybe he just is what he is at this point.

I don't think we need to fire McDaniel in season but he along with Grier need to be gone at seasons end.
Kinda where I am at. I'm not a fan of firing the coach midseason unless there are some nasty personal issues happening or they have lost the locker room. Essentially only fire them if they are poison.

I don't think McD is that, he's just not seasoned enough yet for this level of job. He and Tua seem to have a genuine rapport so I'd let them stick together and see if either can keep growing.

For this exercise though, I like the Darrell Bevell idea posted above. A steady hand from a guy whose been there / done that would be smart.

Darrell Bevell. He has done it before.
This. And would not worry about moving on from at the end of the season.

Example if you take Anthony Weaver (who is thought to be an nice up and coming HC candidate. then at the end of the season you will lose your up and coming HC Candidate and DC IF you move on from him.

IMO Bevel would be the smart move, a Weaver choice tells me Grier likely goes no where and that will be your 2026 HC as well.
