Are you running Windows 98/ME or Windows XP? I can help ya out with this.

Click Start and then run, type in winipconfig or winipcfg. The box that pops up should give you your IP.
If he only has one NIC or Modem. 
Otherwise he may have to select the appropriate board/modem from the drop-down.
