We all hate Ireland for many reasons but deep down Ross appears to be calling all the shots. Parcells left in part because of Ross' impatience and need for a splash player, i.e., Brandon Marshall. Ross replaces Parcells with himself and Ireland is his chief scout and draft guru. Neither Ireland nor Philbin wanted a prima donna player like Manning, who wants to be coach and QB and personnel specialist. Ross wanted Manning. We are holding cap room waiting for Ross to acknowledge we were rejected by Manning because of him (the weak FO). Mannings' very reluctance to sign stems from Ross forcing Manning down the throats of Ireland and Philbin. Ireland and Philbin want to build through the draft. Ross wants to sell draft beer and have a nightclub at the stadium. He is a moron. Our fans know football but our owner does not and should sell the team. He is 71 years old. I am sure Philbin was unwilling to cede full control to Manning in their meeting even if Ross said "do whatever it takes." Ross does not respect his people. Manning might get this team to the playoffs but he has a history of choking. He would leave this team cap-strapped just like Indy.

As an organization, Miami has never overcome how cap-strapped the team was when Jimmy Johnson took over. We have drafted very poorly including the Parcells/Ireland years. We have no depth at WR. We need to stop overpaying for FAs like the Bucs. Ross is an old schmuck. Ross keeps Ireland because nobody would put up with Ross' intrusions into his role. It seems Ross/Ireland/Philbin have different agendas. Philbin wants to pass, Ireland is ground and pound (like his mentor), and Ross wants to sell season tickets. It is a total mess. Peyton would be an expensive band aid for very deep problems.

Why do people insist on coming up with excuses for Ireland. Come to grips folks He SUCKS!!!!! He has had ample amount of chances to upgrade our QB position and at every opportunity, EVERY OPPORTUNITY, he has taken the safer option. He is as much the reason why our team sucks as much as Parcells or anyone. I would actually hold him more accountable then Parcells.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Guy has never won anywhere.

It has been a unusually mild winter, which threw off the equatorial drift causing Ireland to lose his mojo.

Excellent post, and well said. The dysfunction in the Miami org is clear. It is even painfully evident when we saw Sparano/Ireland/Ross in a simple presser together (remember those scenes?). It was just plain awkward, and I dont see it being any different with Philbin as far as dysfunction.

A fish rots from the head down. The head in this case is Ross, and just like any business, the business WILL NOT SUCCEED without a person at the top who is fully competent.

Thank you, was about to come in here and say something similar. Why in gods name is it never Irelands fault with some fans?

How many second round picks do we have to waste before people figure out he should be fired?

We get it Ireland sucks (I don't like him either), but do we need a thread about how much Ireland sucks every 10 minutes?

He only became GM last year. This is his second draft. Ireland is Ross' lightning rod. Do you think Ireland should have done the RGIII deal like Washington did. I would trade Jake Long for a high 1st round pick. Jake is gone after 2012.

Well you might want to pound on Ireland if you like but IMO he is the best we have had in the front office even going back to the Shula years except for Jimmy Johnson and JJ was really showed great skills in bringing in players on the defensive side of the ball. Now when I say the Shula I should say the Marino Shula years. Our drafts were just not that good over those years when Marinio was here but Shula and his staff could coach many of those players up. Thats the kind of coach we need and everyone would be happier and Ireland would look better of course. Ireland other picking up that elusive QB that everyone has struck out on since Shula ECEPT during Irelands tenure when we got the one good year out of Pennington and inability to trade backwards and grab more picks like the Pat which is a personel opinion of mine has done as good as anthing we have had around here in about 25 years

Ross is 71 years old? This is the best news I have heard today. That means we will likely only have to suffer through another decade of this crap before he sells the team or passes on from the Earthly realm.

Every year it's QB. Year in and year out, it's about the QB. QB this. QB that. This is the year we solve the problem at QB.

Looks like it's happening yet again.

Ireland has been gm since 2008
