We all hate Ireland for many reasons but deep down Ross appears to be calling all the shots. Parcells left in part because of Ross' impatience and need for a splash player, i.e., Brandon Marshall. Ross replaces Parcells with himself and Ireland is his chief scout and draft guru. Neither Ireland nor Philbin wanted a prima donna player like Manning, who wants to be coach and QB and personnel specialist. Ross wanted Manning. We are holding cap room waiting for Ross to acknowledge we were rejected by Manning because of him (the weak FO). Mannings' very reluctance to sign stems from Ross forcing Manning down the throats of Ireland and Philbin. Ireland and Philbin want to build through the draft. Ross wants to sell draft beer and have a nightclub at the stadium. He is a moron. Our fans know football but our owner does not and should sell the team. He is 71 years old. I am sure Philbin was unwilling to cede full control to Manning in their meeting even if Ross said "do whatever it takes." Ross does not respect his people. Manning might get this team to the playoffs but he has a history of choking. He would leave this team cap-strapped just like Indy.
As an organization, Miami has never overcome how cap-strapped the team was when Jimmy Johnson took over. We have drafted very poorly including the Parcells/Ireland years. We have no depth at WR. We need to stop overpaying for FAs like the Bucs. Ross is an old schmuck. Ross keeps Ireland because nobody would put up with Ross' intrusions into his role. It seems Ross/Ireland/Philbin have different agendas. Philbin wants to pass, Ireland is ground and pound (like his mentor), and Ross wants to sell season tickets. It is a total mess. Peyton would be an expensive band aid for very deep problems.
