All of you who think this loss is on the players and do not know why everyone is down on Ireland it is really simple. We lost because our talent was not as good as theirs especially on the OLine and Defensive Line. We knew OLine was a problem and he failed to address this.

During the most critical game of the year look at the contribution that this year's draft made. NOTHING!

We have a complete failure in acquiring top talent. Yes he hit on Wake and a small handful. But just not good enough over the length of his tenure.

We are just not talented enough and that it eh GM.

Koa Misi big money extension
Philip Wheeler big money contract
Dannell Ellerbe big money contract

Bingo...
That's my problem with Ireland....He has used alot of picks on ok talent, when we should have come out with some elite talent.
He has over spent on just ok free agents.
We are not getting the best bang for our buck with Ireland.

No but the fir Ireland..our team sucks..Tannehill sucks..I hate our new logo..Dawn Aponte sucks... (hmm..well that's not actually a bad thing) will come running in with all their temple dresses on singing down with Ireland..down with Philbin

Picking Jordan over Lane Johnson still seems like the better move at the moment though, I've read Johnson has done awful in Philly, however that was weeks ago so he may be doing better. It truly is masterful how much money and picks were invested to the offensive line, and for Ireland to turn it into this is borderline miraculous! The guy's draft history is an eye sore to look at, and based off this alone, I agree. He needs to be shown the door at season's end. However, I am in favor for letting the staff stick around with a better offensive line.

I truly believe the set backs of Sherman's offense is being forced to use this offensive line, which makes roll outs, the read option, bootlegs, and screen passes hard to execute behind the LOS. As soon as the ball is snapped, the entire offensive line is immediately backed up into Tannehill (he is lucky he is 6'4).

We have some really bad players on this team, we have some average players on this team and we have some pretty good players on this team but where are the great players on this team? Wake? Not so much this year. Grimes? He's played very well but will he be here next year?

This team lacks difference makers. People are content with the hartlines and the clays and they are pretty good players but elite talent wins in this league. Not pretty good talent. Keenan Allen, who many were clamoring for, would of looked real good on our team. Instead we pay big money to players, who while aren't bad, they certainly aren't top end players at their position.

and didnt we trade the titans the pick for chris johnson then take a rb a few picks later.

I am in no way a stringent Ireland support. He has made some questionable and outright bad moves no question about it. But, what I'm trying to understand is the following:

What fairy tale team are you people looking for? How many teams in this league are damn near perfect? Meaning they've made all the right moves. Additionally, all those moves are made at the right price etc.

My football knowledge tells me that every team is flawed! Further and this is probably shockingly to some of you. But, the team with the best Roster doesn't necessarily win the SuperBowl every season.

Ultimately, it's the right combination of strong areas and not so strong area roster wise and a coaching staff that understands this critical balance to maximize and masked those areas.

Strawman

The 1st overall pick, the 15th overall pick, a second round pick, 2 third round picks, a fourth round pick, a 6th round pick, $25 million contract to Justin Smiley, $29 million contract to Jake Grove, $42 million contract to Vernon Carey, $5 contract million to Tyson Clabo. And much more. Still gave up a franchise record of sacks.

But hey, at least Ireland got offset language in his first round picks! In order to prevent players from collecting their entire contract if we cut them, Ireland fully guaranteed their contracts. We are trendsetters!

As I just said in another thread, are this team's problems coaching or talent?

Well, with the exact same defensive staff and DL personnel, we had a very good run stopping unit last season. What changed? We replaced our linebackers, and we see them routinely making terrible plays against the run. Coaching? I doubt it.

How about our OL? We went from 4.4 sacks per game to 2.5 sacks per game after we traded for Bryant McKinnie. Jim Turner sucks? Really? How is it that replacing our left tackle with a washed up tackle who has a bum knee and took several weeks to learn the line calls resulted in an instant 40% reduction in sacks?

It's flat out bizarre to me that anyone can think this team doesn't have huge talent issues at 2-3 positions. Same coaching staff and you get night and day results by replacing 1 or 2 players...

When they dont make the right moves they are fired. Ireland has the relatively unique ability to consistently make the wrong moves yet remain employed.

So with the same players we beat the Patriots(who just destroyed the Ravens yesterday) last week, and got shutout by the Bills yesterday... With the SAME players...
