Of course we are...

Former Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Jay Ratliffhas been cleared to resume football activities and plans to begin working out for teams in a few weeks in hopes of finding a job this season.
According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Miami Dolphins are expected to be one of the teams in pursuit of his services.
Ratliff had been dealing with the lingering effects of a sports hernia surgery last December and the Cowboys released him last week as it appeared he may not be able to play this season. Since then, Ratliff has been cleared to resume football activities and several teams appear interested in adding the four-time Pro Bowl selection.
Paul Soliai and Randy Starks are both scheduled to be free agents at the end of the season and Ratliff could give the Dolphins an additional option if he’s able to prove he can still play at a high level the remainder of the season.
Ratliff has compiled 228 tackles and 27 sacks in eight seasons with the Cowboys.

I don't know if you consider this a negative or a positive. It sounds as if you were making fun of the fact that Ireland signs lots of washed up Cowboys and while I agree the LB Carpenter and Colombo were awful signings we did get some valuable ex-Cowboys at some point and regardless of the team he comes from a 4 time pro-bowler on the cheap is worth bringing in if anything just to check if our doctors give him medical clearance. If we sign him this year he will be a non-factor but it will also give us first hand for next should he prove this year he can play and play well at that. I don't see anything wrong in this whether the player comes from the Cowboys, Chiefs or Jaguars, in fact not bringing him for a medical and a workout would mean Ireland and Co. wouldn't be doing their jobs.

Ratliff might be a worth while signing, its not that we need him to contribute this year with our great rotation of Odrick, Starks, and Soliai. We can afford to take a chance for a year, see if he can get healthy and then contribute at a high level next year.

Brett Favre is a 11 time pro-bowler, should Ireland be trying to sign him?

Leave the washed up, injury ridden, locker room cancer alone. Resign the pro-bowl players who have been working their asses off for us for years now.

How many "former Cowboys" does this team employ right now? Do we even have one?

Nothing wrong with taking a look at Ratliff, he can still be a good player if healthy. The "don't sign him because he played for Dallas" attitude is eerily similar to the "don't spend money or draft picks on more offensive lineman" attitude this past off season. How is that working out right now? Good players shouldn't be ignored because of where they come from or the position they play.

it's really just a bad idea to sign Ratliff. Where is he going to play? There is no room on this line for him. The only semi good Cowboy signing was Fasano and he was here too long.

99% of Irelands Cowboy signings contributed little to nothing and he is still taking a look at the old washed up guys that get released from there. Its quite pathetic IMO.

Nothing wrong with giving him a shot. The more talent, the better. I'd rather see them acquire a decent tackle, though
