I am no ireland fan as i have stated in the past. However, this creates a very delicate situation for the dolphins. This gm has made some good moves down the stretch with mckinnie and m thomas. Also we cannot forget charles clay was his pick too. Conversely, he is involved some way with the j martin/incognitio deal too.

Should he survive another year or not. I am torn at this point!!!!!!!!

It really is a moment where you way the good and the bad and you just do not know. Making the playoffs means another year.

no doubt when he F's up it is big... but he makes up for it on the back side IMO.. Brenner / Thomas / Wilson ..
If you are the owner and riding Philbin as your coach... you need to ride Ireland.

He's responsible for the crapfest that they sort of fixed. He still needs to go.

I like many a move Ireland has made but, McKennie and Thomas are not among them.

My opinion right after the McKinnie trade was announced:

Extremely uninspiring.

If we were going to do something like this, why in the hell didnt we do it 2 weeks ago?

I stand by it. Doesnt matter if its worked(which it has), it should have been done weeks earlier.

No confusion or conflicting feelings about Ireland on my part. If we had hit on some of our draft picks in the past, we would be competing for a Superbowl or at least would have locked up the division at this point. Ireland cant hit on second round picks, we can find a general manager who can.

Technically he drafted tannehill he will live or die through tannehill.

McKinnie should of been signed in the offseason, instead he got desperate and gave a pick for him. Sry Ireland needs to be upgraded no matter what happens. He didn't have the vision to understand that martin sucked real bad.

How do you know if he didn't try to swing a deal weeks earlier but baltimore wasn't biting? Just saying.

Then he deserves blame for failing in his attempt.

Our players are slammed if they try but fail on the field, our general manager can get slammed if he tries and fails off the field.

Ireland could have also vastly improved the line by making the trade with KC during the draft for their LT. I don't know if the Chiefs were asking for far more than the second round pick, but I could have dealt with not having both Jamar Taylor and Dallas Thomas if shored up the offensive line before the season even started.

Very good point, and it is funny to think that Baltimore may end up missing the playoffs because of that trade. With Miami where it was at the time, its doubtful they seriously considered us as their prime competition, but you never really know how much they valued helping out the future of their team by getting an extra pick for a guy not in use versus helping our own squad at a relatively cheap cost.
