Just asking for insights on the comment that many of us read around here regarding Ireland talking about swinging for the fences with that draft pick we got for Vonte. Does anyone know if he even said that? Does anyone have some info on a potential trade that may have never happened. Just looking for a little input.

Well basically I'll put it to you like this. He has this fence, and he likes to swing it.

he was swinging for the fences. Problem is nobody was willing to throw him a decent pitch.

That wasn't a quote of Ireland. It was media-speak. All he said was the Vontae trade gave him ammunition if he did find a deal to do. The "swing for the fences" line seemed to be the writers creation.

lol I love the nitpickin around here though. every little thing is scrutinized and picked at until we've gone nothing but a buncha festering scabs and sores. smells like puss in here.

That was Beasely in a tweet apparently exaggerating a bit. Hopefully, he'll realize tweets get analyzed closely by some.

Didn't you hear??? We got Anthony Armstrong! I call that a homerun!

I'm not saying Anthony Armstrong is great, but he got wide open on a third and long and Tannehill just flat out missed him. He was in position to make a clutch play there.

Well, he missed batting practice, then he missed the team bus, he sat on the bench until the bottom of the 9th, where he was called upon to pinch hit, two outs, down by one run with runners on first and second. All set and ready to swing for the fences...

Hit and run is on, runners moving, Ireland lets the ball go by without swinging, catcher tosses the runner out at third, game over, Ireland still standing in the box with the bat on his shoulder.

Ireland Swinging for the fences

Ireland:"Kevin how much for Mike Wallace?"
Kevin Cobert Steelers GM: "Two First Round Picks."
Ireland:" No thanks too high."

Just because a call happened which it probably did to Pitt and Green Bay and anyone else doesn't mean we were close to making a deal. We were too desperate and everyone knew it. Teams were trying to gouge us and it didn't work.

He's not gonna trade no picks ..he loves draft picks.HOPEFULLY HE CAN GET ANOTHER J. MARTIN IN THE SECOND ROUND.

probably not allowed to waste the next GM's draft picks. It's not like he knows what to do with them anyways.
