From 1989 to 2008 Carl Ptereson was the G.M. for the Chiefs.......the team recorded a 101–58–1 record, and clinched seven playoff berths......is this revelant? They were a mess when he quit! Has the game passed him by? Who else is a better choice?

All I need to know is he left KC in shambles, and that includes actually trading a draft pick to acquire Herm Edwards. He may have had the touch at one point, but like Parcells, his best days are seen as a blur through the rear view mirror

Sorry but Peterson being officially named Team President means there is a better chance that Ireland stays. Peterson and Ireland have a relationship going back to KC where Peterson broke Ireland in.

My understanding was that Peterson was in line for the President job, not the GM. I don't think he'd take a GM job. I just think he'd be put in to be Stephen Ross's eyes and ears on all of the operations. Someone to subvert Ireland entirely. I imagine Sparano goes and Gruden comes in with Ireland still calling the shots to an extent. But it wouldn't surprise me either if Cowher wanted in but only if he had GM abilities, to which Ireland goes and Peterson stays and Cowher buys his own groceries.

A couple more Giants upsets like today's Seattle ridiculous comeback and you can eliminate Cowher from consideration.. he'll be accepting his dream job.

not really sure what to think about the peterson deal. that herm edwards decision is awfully awfully questionable IMO. that record is awfully awfully impressive in the NFL tho - more impressive than any case that could be made for jeff fisher as head coach. he did have a head coach that had the formula for winning games in the NFL, but not playoff games - kind of ignored the QB position. he did have rich gannon, and let him get away, but he also brought in Montana. its a mixed bag on peterson. i dont really give a **** if hes running the team. his experience will be a plus - as long as we have people in place that are picking the groceries
