This entire offseason, Parcells has been doing two things... sign defense and sign defensive youth... we now have a multitude of DBs, a large number of LBs, our Dline has improved (Ferguson>Traylor)...
So with all that said, one must assume that since Parcells went almost all defense this offseason, he will help Beck/McCown and the offense in the draft... Its no question we DEFINITELY are drafting a tackle (Jake Long perhaps... and according to Mike Mayock, he said at USC's pro day, four high NFL personnel guys all said Miami will take Jake Long)..and we almost definitely need a slot guy and a LG as well... And we COULD go with a RB as Ronnie Brown will not be back to full strength 'till midseason (ACL tears take 12-18 months to recover, Ronnie tore it in Oct.)..so one must assume draft picks will DEFINITELY used on a OT,RG, WR, QB (besides Beck and McCown, there is nothing)... and then one must believe we SHOULD draft a TE in a later round (Jermichael Finley perhaps?), as I believe David Martin will be a stopgap for one more year...and also a RB will probably be taken as a hit or miss guy late in the draft

Agree to a degree. I think we go tackle and either WR or TE early, but we do still have needs on D, at ILB, CB and depth on the Dline.

With 9 picks, I'm thinking it will be pretty close to even for offense and defense. Probably something like:
5 defense
4 offense

I think we'll go OT,Guard.TE,WR and QB on offence....on defence we'll go OLB/DE,Corner and that leaves 1 more pick for whatever position

Ozzy rules!!

I think Bill will go Defense 3 of the top 5 picks and the 1st pick will be defense. His history in the draft makes me believe he will find good OL in the later rounds who can start by the end of the season. I think he will use the cuts on June 1st to find a old solid OL who can hold the fort until the young guys are ready. Late in the draft my guess is he will go DL and CB. But I do agree with 9 picks he will have 5 defense and 4 offense. I would be surprised if he went OL with the first pick. I could live with that or chris long with that first pick. I would not want ryan and would like to wait and give the QB on staff a chance, before we address that situation.

FinFanatic's IDEAL DREAM DRAFT:

1. (1) Chris Long - DE - Virginia (#1)
2. (32) Gosder Cherilus - OT - Boston College (#34)
2. (57) Early Doucet - WR - LSU (#30)
3. (64) Reggie Smith - CB - Oklahoma (#54)
4. (100) Tom Zbikowski - SS - Notre Dame (#87)
6. (195) Drew Radovich - OG - USC (#174)
6. (204) Ben Moffitt - LB - USF (#198)
7. (208) Craig Stevens - TE - California (#177)
7. (245) Justin Forsett - RB - California (#190)

I agree.

By the way, your mock draft looks great; I'd love it if it went that way.:hi5:

With the way the team is right now needing something at pretty much every position I think it could just be best player available the whole way through.

Yes Matt Ryan No.1 overall and Jonathon Stewart in the 3rd round and Jake Long in the second. Check out the Official Slippery Soap Mock Draft in the Draft Forum.

We've left more offensive positions either open or with no depth so I'd be shocked if we don't go heavily in favour of the offense. The only reason we won't will be because defensive studs for some reason keep dropping to our picks, thus the importance to draft J.Long first and let the rest of the draft come to us.

I'm gonna take a guess and say your draft goes heavily defense simply based on the notion that he went heavily defense on every draft he had with us til he left.

The best 3 players are in fact defensive players, last year Joe Thomas had a better grade that Jake Long this year. There is no clear franchise QB, and you draft for the future. I think we will regret not drafting the better athlete (Gholston), an inmediate impact player like Glenn Dorsey or the solid payer Chris Long is. I think the reason we went defense early on free agency, was because our defense was BAD and getting very old. Our offense is still young. I guess we will use picks on offense on a WR, OG, OT and maybe a QB, but we will be drafting DE/OLB, DT, CB and ILB also. Last year I wanted Ellis and Okoye, and I was against Ginn because although we had a need at WR, Ellis and Okoye were the best players available at the moment. Now the best are Gholston, Chris Long and Dorsey. The ideal scenario would be trading the 1st overall and getting something decent in return.

Three letters: BPA. We need help everywhere.

NO...

Parcells likes defense and I am sure we'll get our fair share of LBers...

I see a 50/50 split...

This offense need to score points, and control the rock, this scenario points to Jake long. And get yourself a DT and a LB and you're set. CB with the 3rd.
