how the fact that we have a new coaching staff, will be one reason for us having a sub .500 year, yet no mention of it is made when they talk about the Patriots? I realize there's a difference in the two teams, but come on.....the Pats have a new O and D coordinator. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to make this a Pats thread.

We improved our coaching staff, more than likely will have an improved Oline, and Dline, upgraded the running back spot, yet we get no love. You can't really count the downgrade at CB, because they were predicting us to suck before we ever lost Surtain or Poole. I just don't like how the media uses one team's change of staff as a negative, yet overlooks another teams change of staff.

I was watching my Tivoed Ravens/Dolphins game last night, and came up with a couple of things. (Nothing new to anyone, but still)

1)We still have alot of talent on this team. The (Wannstedtless)Dolphins I saw playing on that field played there butts off. (Rushing D looked like crap, but still they definitely did not play like a 4-12 team)

2)At the commercial break, I got to see a taped "preview" of the Ricky on 60 minutes segment. That sh-- just reminded me of how much of an a$$ he is. He had talent, but I just got pissed at him again.

There's my 2 cents. No bold predictions included.

Don't sweat it guy! Hell the media is more biased and slanted than ever before. Plus they spend a lot of time getting things seriouly wrong. Examlpes.. Newsweek, Dan Rather...

I don't want the media to like us and I feel no need of there love. I just want the wins!:fire::fire::fire::fire::fire:

know what im sick of hearing... all this saban is a disciple of belicheck, he gets this from BB he gets that from BB, blah blah... saban has worked with BB for a long time and they have similarities in ideas because of this but im sick of everyone acting like saban is where he is only cause of BB and ****...

that bugs me...

I have to agrree with both scrap and Arsenal. It seems the general media has to throw out either one of those topics in every Dolphins article.

Or, don't forget to add:
1. Aging defense
2. poor offense

I know the Fins have caught plenty of flak from the media, but I heaven't heard this particular point made. What I have heard is that even though we've upgraded the coaching staff, it will take time for them to work their magic.

Well, on paper and what we have seen so far the coaches and Saban get an A+

But they still have a 0-0 record, and until we play games, people will find them suspect.

There are very few reporters whose opinion's I value when it comes to journalism. There are also very few former players turned analyst who i'll listen to either without having a whole bunch of salt, much less a grain of it.. but there are two and it just so happens that BOTH of them are very high on the Dolphins and Coach Saban.. not necessaily for next season, but, both Peter King and Merrill Hodge have been on record as saying, watch out for the Miami Dolphins a couple of years down the road. King has already gone on record as touting Saban as one of the top 5 coaches in football, not just the NFL, or College, but ALL of coaching period.. Hodge said that the Dolphins draft was great and that in the long run, Ronnie Brown will be the best and most productive player from this years draft.. My point is, I know we don't get very much love from the National Media, must less the local media, however, there are some out there that think we are headed in the right direction, and they're people that know a thing or two about the gamel.. Not that I would even care when it does happen, but, one thing and one thing only will win the others over, and that's wins... winning cures all, however, I really don't care if they feature us or not.. I will enjoy my Dolphins and being a Dolphins fan none the less.. I don't need any reassurance from John Clayton or Sean Salisburry...

Don't worry, once the season starts, the fins will surprise everyone. They still have enough talent on this team for 9 or 10 wins. If everybody stays healthy this team will rock.

The thing is with our new coaches comes a new scheme, terminology, etc. which takes time to learn. The Pats will use the same schemes with the new coordinators. However, people are more likely saying that things are looking up, and if we have a sub 500 it will be because of learning curves, not a bad staff or players.

Bottom line, when a team comes off a 4-12 record, you won't hear good things about them until they improve their record. Coaches changes and added personnel means nothing until they prove it on the field. Last year's team is always how it's played until the new season starts. Right now, Miami is a 4-12 team with potential, until that potential is reach or in Saban's word, over achieved, they are still a questionable team. Hopefully last year was a fluke, and this year brings some respectability back to the organization. In the mean time don't sweat it.. :D

the pats will stink this year no doubt

The pats will not stink this year. I seriously doubt they make the superbowl with their losses and mediocre gains, but they will probably make the playoffs. While I think our improvements will let us contend for the division title, I think it's too much to ask in Saban's first season. I do see us finishing second.

Let's get it straight. We were in every game last year in the 4th qtr (by like 3 pts or something) except the jets game. The defense would be the #1 D in the NFL if we could have kept them off the field a little bit. I remeber 1 game when time of possesion for the fins was like 14 or 15 min. The play calling, the philosophy, the lack of disipline by the coaching staff, the lack of ability to maxamze a players potential, the unwillingness to change a game plan, and a simple and pathetic offense that a 3rd grader could figure out how to stop is why the staff, and the staff alone will put the fins above .500.

Do not get me wrong, I am saying the talent level in Miami is far better than a 4-12 team and all of a 8-8 or 9-7 team by talent alone. It is just that Wanny couldn't do it and any other coach can.

What I do not understand about the media is the fact that 2 years ago with ricky and a brutal o-line and an even worse coach the fins we a super bowl contender. Now that we have a better coach and a great o-line coach which means the line will be better and a running back and wel have a much better d-line that we are going to be sub 500. That makes no sense to me.
