some people say it is. i guess it is here in western, ny because there are a lot more bills fans and not many dolphin fans like me

but i don't think it's a rivalry... anymore

it used to be a rivalry. marino and kelly used to have showdowns and they were arguably some of the best games in the history of these two teams facing each other.

there were some good games since then, like in 2001 when we went to buffalo and scored 24 points in the fourth quarter. but have they played a meaningful game in a while?

it's not a rivalry anymore. for us, our biggest rival is someone we really want to beat, like the pats or jets. probably the jets because they beat us like 8 times in a row and think they're so great.

Like you said it was a huge rivalry, but now neither team seems to be in the hunt lately and it's dwindling away. Hopefully their games will start meaning something again and the rivalry will grow again. Nothing better than spanking the dolphins and knockin em out of the playoffs or something like that.:D

oh i guess you're not a dolphin fan lol. well i don't really care most of the time actually. it's like, people can get excited over a bills-dolphins game (and some people get a little too excited).

but bills fans (and i'm not saying it's you) seem to be the type of fans that are uppity, and rub it in your face when they beat the fins. it's kind of like you had something to do with the dolphins losing to the bills.

I think the Phins-Jets is more of a rivalry.....lots better games between the two.

Uppity?

No offense, but i dont think you ever really experienced the Bills, Dolphins battles. Little before your time.

And any fans get over excited when they play their hated foe, that is the nature of the beast.

Trust me, every fan rubs it in the other fans faces, dont get carried away, you do it too.

as long as the bills beat the fins, i can say it was a successfull season.

i hate tom brady, and would spit on him if i ever saw him, but i dont hate the team. i also dont really hate the jets. i like it when they lose, but i dont watch their games, i dont follow their signings and cuts, i just dont care.

a rivalry game isnt the best team you play on a regular basis, its the team that you love to hate and if given a chance to see just one regular season game it would be your rivalry game, not becasue you are trying to get in to the playoffs or because a win will get you closer to the wildcard spot, but because you truely want to crush that team. you want to see them lose and walk away beaten. you want to rub it in their face every day untill you play them again.

the bills biggest rival is the miami dolphins. I hate the fins, and i enjoy hating the fins. no other win gives me a bigger smile than a win agenst the miami dolphins. :D

Rivalries

Hmmm.. In the Boston area, rivalries seem to involve an opponent who has been good for a long time. The Red Sox have constantly been looking up at a certain team from the Bronx. The Bruins for a long time were chasing the Canadians. Any number of teams didn't like the Celtics when they were on top of the world. I remember the well the passion involved in hoping Bird would do well against Dr. J, Kareem and Magic.

But the AFC East hasn't had a dominant franchise. For one stretch in the 70s, the Dolphins were boss. For another stretch, the Bills were losing super bowls. The Patriots have recently taken their turn. A good healthy hatred can build up for a while, but the balance of power in the AFC East keeps shifting. One team hasn't dominated decade in and decade out.

Ah, well. Can't everyone all hate each other equally? :D

If you were old enough to have cared when these teams played in the 90s you wouldn't have asked this question. I will always hate the Bills, my only comfort during this horrible playoff drought for Miami is that it has been longer for the Bills. ch19's post summed it up well. I want the Buffalo players to be hanging their heads and crying when the games over. I want them to try their best and fail miserably.

I hate the Pats too. That freak upset in the 85 championship kept Dan from a ring. Miami was the only team in the league that could beat Chicago then. New England proceeded to embarass the AFC that year.

If the Dolphins wanted a ring that year, they ought to have avoided freak upsets. The notion that one should lay over and play dead if one thinks the other team might embarass one's confrence more is... unusual.

Granted, the Patriots embarassed themselves more than they did the rest of the AFC...

Do you wanna beat the crap out of that team worse than almost any other team in the league? Do you circle that date on the calender as a fan/player and cant wait to put a whoopin on them?

If you answer yes its a rivalry

Well if I remember correctly the weather was horrible that day, wet and muddy and what not. A horrible day for passing which happened to be what Miami did better than anyone. I don't fault the Patriots for winning, I'm just mad that Mother Nature got in the way of what could have been Miami's greatest Super Bowl win. But yeah weather's part of the game and all so oh well. I didn't watch the game though b/c I was so young. That's another reason I hate Buffalo more. Their stuff happened right when I really started to get into the fins.

What? No rivalry? Joey Harrington VS. J.P Losman doesn't excite your rivalry juices?
