Is Db Tj Mcdonald (223 Lbs) Really Bigger Than Lb Jerome Baker (215 Lbs)?

It's possible. I'm under 6'1, and I weigh 200 lbs, though most people wouldn't think so. Muscle weighs more than fat, and some people carry weight differently.

Pretty sure I'd seen in an interview during training camp that he said he was 225 definitely looks a lot lighter though.

nfl.com also has Tannehill at 207, wasn't he over 220 so not sure how accurate they are?

Well, he weighed in at 230 at the combine

Only Matt Burke would play a 220 lbs (roughly) linebacker at Sam.

Light or no, Baker is playing well for a rookie. He's making a lot more plays than the more-touted and much heavier Raekwaon McMillan.

Maybe that's the reason he is missing so many tackles
How many LBs can sprint 40yds and chase down a WR? I think the last person I saw do that was Patrick Willis. I can't believe Baker's hustle on that play wasn't publicized more.

I agree, for his draft position, age, and size he's doing acceptable. McMillan on the other hand...if I am being completely honest, he's not long for a starting roll in Miami. He just doesn't flash or show the "it" factor, he' s just there and does not make the plays a MLB needs to make for a strong defense in the NFL. I think he'll fall into one of those "serviceable" or "journeyman" LBs in the league. In a year or two it will be evident he's a weak spot and we'll need to upgrade.

What difference does it make if the LB is making plays? People get too caught up in physical height/weight details rather than ability.

Baker has already said this year he is not 215. I think he said he was 225 I cant remember exactly though.

Baker just needs 'seat time' so to speak. I like what I see, although Bellecheat will give him some lessons this week (#52 too). Baker being undersized may break down later in the season, like that kid we got from the Gators a few years back. I see #52 moving after this year if his instincts don't improve, to strong side with a better option coming through next's years draft.

Bakers strengths are speed, quick play diagnosis, and tackling. He needs experience to refine his reaction. Catching Nelson is an example of his speed. His speed helps with screens. At least twice a game I mutter “stupid rookie”, but he is going to be a good LB for us!
