Other areas of FA such as LB OL and possible WR?

It seems as if miami is waiting till they know if they can get Brees/Culpepper
before engaging in serious contract talks with other FA's.

Will that approach backfire? I hope not.

It seems Miami has hosted several players ( Arrington, Adams, Mawae ) and all have left without a deal, one gets the impression that the QB hunt IS affecting signing other players, I hope not, but not much is happening, I'd like to see Miami get help for the secondary too.

I get the feeling it is helping, I believe that the other FA's are waiting for us to sign a QB seeing as they think we can make a strong SB push this year if we get a good one.

It is hurting us a little bit for sure. Just look how quickly some of these free agents are signing deals. There might not be much left if Saban waits too long.

Well you don't see Adams, Arrington or Mawae signed anywhere else do you? My gut and the obvious way this is playing out says that QB is the most important ting to Saban and nothing else gets done before that - then after it is done and we see how much moola is leftover, then they can sign who they can. Maybe they have all bought in but are being tight-lipped per Saban's instructions - who knows.

What will hurt more? Not landing a particular linebacker, or not landing a quarterback?

Think about that for a while. What is the one position that has held this team back over the past 6 seasons? Quarterback.

I just hope that we get an answer from Brees tomorrow one way or the other. Cause if he doesn't sign here, Saban needs to try and get Culpepper quickly before he is traded somewhere else. Time is of the essence.

Not fair, you didn't give me time to think about it before you answered.

The guys that we signed today...i dont think any of them were realistically on the Dolphins radar.

Hurting???

we have ignored the QB position since Marino, its about time we Concentrate on it. Get er' done. Brees or Bust.

I do think we need to address the QB position in the next 24 hours as I do feel it hurts the other postions b/c of cap restraints. We need to either sign Brees or deal for Culpepper so we can free up some more cash by letting Ferotte go so we can then turn around and fill our other needs. So Yeah I do feel it is affecting us somewhat.

Yes and No. According to John Clayton, Saban wants to have the QB situation settle whether it's signing Brees or trading for Culpepper before addressing other areas.

Wrong!! Culpepper will still be sitting there for us. We need to make a strong push for Drew and give him whatever time he needs to make his decision. Culpepper is not that hot of an item. Look at how many teams are dropping thoughts of trading for him. I wouldn't be surprised if he sat there long enough to force the Vikes to cut him before he is due his 6 milliuon dollar roster bonus (in which case we wouldn't have to compensate them with a draft pick).
