Is Don Shula trying as hard as he can to keep their undefeated record alive. He's all over the media stating that the Colt's will go undefeated and will run the table, is he trying to make them overconfident so they lose. I honestly am hoping they lose. But is this why Shula is saying these things???????

Maybe because he believes what he says is true.

Yes, he's being gracious... and smart. By saying he thinks they have the ability to run the table, if they do, he was right... but if they don't (which is the more probable outcome) it only enhances the accomplishment of the '72 Team.

EDIT: Also, he did coach both teams, so he has to tread lightly, no?

shula doesn't have to do a damn thing in regards to the colts, he is a living legend, and can pretty much say whatever he wants to. But yes, he did coach the colts, and may still have some friends somewhere in the org, but other than that, he has no reason to be nice. But this is Don Shula! he never even said anything bad about JJ, and he HATED JJ.

did he hate JJ because of his treatment of marino?

The hatred for JJ began when JJ coached the Cowboys. Dave Shula was the OC there, then got demoted to WR coach, then got canned. In 1994-95, JJ did some things from the broadcast booth which were supposedly meant to undermine Shula, putting more pressure on him, seemingly to free up Shula's job so Jimmy could take it. Then, once JJ got there, he completely dissed via some comments the teams successful history. All of those things together sparked the hatred.
I don't have a link, but it's all in the book "Shark Among Dolphins, Jimmy Johnson's rebuilding of the Miami Dolphins". And a lot is just common knowledge. I hope I've helped.

Forget JJ!!!!I hated him when he was a coach at Dallas and I hated him when he was a coach here. He set this team back 6 years. Now don't get me wrong Shula screwed up the salary cap his last season here because he knew that it was his last season.

And to answer the actually question I think Shula is saying all of this because of all the BAD things everyone is saying about the Dolphins. Like- I hope the Colts do it so Miami can't pop the champaign. Something about bracking their hips or something like that. But it seems like everyone on ESPN hates the 1972 Dolphins for some reason. So that is y I think Shula is saying all of this... And all so I think they just might be able to do it. Their only test is the away game in Seatle.

yea but that is only in the regular season, everything changes in the playoffs, because its a one stike your out deal, i say give them somebody like the bengals or the broncos in the playoffs and there done. remember the perfect season isnt perfect without the ring, and manning has proven he cant win the big on
