I read all the threads yesterday about him being cut, but didn't really believe them. Not it seems as though there is a strong possibility. Would Saban really cut Feeley knowing he just wasted a 2nd rounder on him?

Saban didn't waste a 2nd rounder on him, Rick Spielman did.

He's got more game experience than Rosefels?..... Feeley is really a back up in this league...not a starter. I see him out of the league completely within 5 yrs.

Depends on the cap situation. It costs more to get rid of Feeley this year than to keep him. However next year it will save money. Basically Feeley was a two year experiment. Looking to be a failed one. Unlike most 2nd round bombs which are three year failed experiments ;).

The thing that bothered me most about Feeley is that he looked virtually unphased on the sidelines. Laughing, doing interviews, its as if he assumed the job was his and that no one could take that from him.
I'd be happy if he was cut just to make him realize that he isnt as good as he thinks

It will be interesting, if Sage beats him out for the 2nd spot, can you have a 3rd string making that much?? Just the fact that we are talking about this shows you where he is going. The man has to grab the bull by the horns and have a good outing against a tough Steeler team.

I know, what I meant was would Saban cut him knowing a 2nd was wasted.

As a coach, you'd really hate to cut a QB with a rating of 27.7 in Saturday's game.

Let's face it, the Fish are still paying for the Wanny/Spielman fiasco and a 2nd round pick was flushed on a 3rd string backup.

Sometimes you just have to cut your losses. I'm not saying that this is the case here, but what we paid for him shouldn't really be a consideration if we should keep him. If he's not making it on the field, he should be gone.

true that, maybe we can get a deal for him, like a 7th rounder:tongue:

Feeley looks lost out there. He does make an occasionally good throw but over all he just cannot play at the level it takes to be succesful. I think he should be cut. We know who our starter is, and keep Sage as the backup and groom Berlin for a future backup. Then go after a stud either through free agency or the draft next off season. In my opinion Sage is a much better QB than Feeley. CUT FEELEY!!!

"Feeley is the only Miami quarterback without a touchdown pass so far this preseason, and has the lowest completion percentage (50.0) and quarterback rating (42.7)." -from today's Miami Herald.

Saban will do what's best for the team as far as cap hit, etc. but I think the great AJ experiment is coming to an end. Look for "The AJ Feeley Experience" at a wedding or bar mitzvah near you soon. Maybe at InFinsible's Super Bowl Party?;)

On the plus side, once again Nick did it the right way- gave him a legitimate opportunity to win the starting job, brought in a reasonable veteran to compete and basically gave AJ enough rope to hang himself. I would expect Gus to start this year and for us to be looking for our future qb in next year's draft/FA.

Unless he sets the world on fire against Pittsburgh (doubtful), he's done. He's just never shown he's a #1 QB here, and we have Sage who is younger and making less money as a MORE capable #2. It doesn't make much sense to keep Feeley as a #3 QB when he's 28 and making millions of dollars.

After having read that article I have to agree. If you look at just the numbers and performance so far this preseason Gus seems to have a good lead for the starting position. Feeley at this point is not looking very good and might be fighting for a roster spot rather than a starting spot.
For those of you that want to read the article :

Berlin is the X factor

If feeley doens't improve and is moved behind Sage what do you do? Here's the dillema. The potential Berlin has displayed he could be the 3rd QB. Does feeley get cut if he isn't the 2nd stringer?
