well for that trade we got Mart Booker and Channing Crowder. I think we did very well.

We needed a wide reciever after Boston went down.

Kevin Carter is a good replacement for Ogunleye, Booker I guess is a good replacement for Boston.

What did he do in Chichago that was so special that would make us regret the trade?
Secondly, had we not traded him, he would have only played 6 games and then left the season after that as a free agent.
Personally, I don't see the negative at all.

While I like Ogunleye, it would have put us in a bad cap situation, we wouldn't have been able to start rebuilding the OL, and have some of weapons we now enjoy.

I don't think it was a bad decision at all. He would have cost us major money against the salary cap and he has not produced up to that high of a level in Chicago. I believe that he was so productive because Jason Taylor was playing on the other side and allowed him less coverage. Getting Booker was not a bad deal, he does not cost us major money against the cap and has been a steady receiver opposite Chambers.

Although I understand that comment, I am not sure if I agree with it.
Did he have a JT on the opposite side of him with da Bears? I am not sure but the defense was regarded as one of the best last year.
.
Also, I remember his breakout season when teams were doubling up on JT, he was a bit of a monster ot defend. I was thinking at the end of that year, "Wow, what a special defensive line we are going to have next year!" And then Wanny trades him. It was very disappointing.
.
It is true what you say about free agency though.
.
I was just hoping to see the beginnings of somehting special with those two together (JY & AO). Currently, we are better than serviceable here as demonstrated by the fact we were secod in the NFL in sacks last year (I believe). That rocks in itself.
.
But, in the end it was probably for the best, though at the time I thought we were taken for a ride....

I don't miss him at all. The Dolphins got him as an undrafted free agent, and after playing opposite JT helped him get a high sack total, Miami parlayed that into (as mentioned before) Marty Booker and Channing Crowder. Now Ogunleye plays on an good defensive line in Chicago. The Dolphins D-line was second in the NFL in sacks last year. I'd say they have replaced him quite nicely. Ogunleye was not worth the money he was demanding and I didn't mind seeing him leave (and, as mentioned before, if the trade hadn't happened he would have played a few games and left as a free agent anyway). Booker and Crowder are far more valuable to this team than Ogunleye and his overpriced salary would have been.

I would have traded him for Book without the pick. Do you people forget he was going to hold out and wanted traded anyway. He is still benefitting from a better end on the other side in Brown IMO. Book is our most reliable and best blocking WR on our team BTW. He also led the NFL in yards per reception last year and O-Gun has led the league in what exactly?

Nope he wanted too much money. I want a team player not a stuck up greedy player.

Ogunleye had 15 sacks his last year as a dolphin .... he has had 15 sacks the past 2 years as a bear, i believe

i don't regret the trade at all, when boston went down, we needed a reciever - DERRIUS THOMPSON WAS NOT THE ANSWER

I sort of miss him. But not so much to the point where I'm like "Damn...". I'm glad we got Booker and Crowder.

I really liked him and was sad that he left but know I like the new guys and don't regret the trade at all.
