Just because you're very smart in business doesn't make you a genius of all things. Stephen Hawkins is certified genius but I'm sure we have guys here who have him beat in football knowledge.
Totally agree. Some of the most successful people are so lopsided in concentrating and perfecting their skill that they struggle to perform tasks that others would consider ordinary. What I found amusing was people name calling the guy, as if he's some kind of joke. I doubt anyone would call Stephen Hawking an idiot, this is just an emotional response from people upset with the direction of their favorite football team.

But you can give an owner like Kahn some major credit for seeing the light and hiring Coughlin.

That’s a problem with Ross. He doesn’t learn from past mistakes. He just makes them again.

Even the "mistakes" you're talking about involve factors beyond the owner's control, namely who is available at any particular time and the personnel that people who the owner hires will have to work with because of the huge degree of luck that goes into drafting players.

As someone alluded to earlier, for a guy who didn't know anything about football, Ross had the foresight to recognize that Harbaugh would be a great head coach. The fact that he handled the situation the way he did probably, in the end, didn't have much to do with why Harbaugh didn't sign here.

Absolutely no chance at all, he does not know football very well, and has appointed some bad people to run his franchise, but the most important thing you hope from an owner is does he spend the money, he does it without a seconds thought, if Miami had a great GM & HC from the start, not only would people stop calling him the worst ever...fans would start having man crushes on him, and how great an owner he is.

There is nothing he wants more then in February take the Lombardi Trophy and show it to all the other owners while in his hand and a huge smile on his face...while in his mind thinking how to make sure the following years he can repeat this feeling.

Pretty much this. If you want to know what a bad owner truly is, look no further than Eugene Melnyk, who owns the Ottawa Senators. He's heavily in debt, and will in all likelihood lose one of the best players in the sport (Erik Karlsson) for close to nothing because he doesn't want to spend the money to keep him. It would be the equivalent of the Colts cutting Andrew Luck because Irsay blew a huge chunk of his fortune on bitcoin.
