our oline may be our achillies this year ? after reading a lot of threads i have come to a conclusion that our oline pass blocks ok but they havent worked on enough run blocking give us a clear picture of how our oline is coming along. everything i am reading is idicating that our passing game may be improving but our running game may take a slide , at least a notch or two.

HERE IS WHAT I AM HOPING FOR AT THE NEXT PRACTICE..

i expect our runningbacks , tight ends, and fullbacks to get with it . i hope there is some meaningful improvement by the time our main camp starts.
i wouldnt mind seeing or hear that they used a two tight end 1 wr and a two back set .
so when is our next practice ? well i am having football seizures now so what shall ole maverick do to amuse himself ?

I am protesting the ladies lounge until dday gets his crew back on track so i am bored .:sidelol::tantrum::confused:

I hurd that the oline is not giving n e holes for the RBs too. Hopefully that is jus becuase there is no pads n not much contact. Maybe once they get pads there will be contact n open up holes!

I would say that you're right on the money. Unfortunately, you won't have an inkling whether the OL is good, bad, or indifferent until they go up against opposing D's in preseason, and even then, that's not the real picture because teams use generic offensives and defenses in preseason.

i think it will be better than it was last year now that VC is at LT

There is absolutely no way you can gauge the OL play from these minicamps with no pads and minimal contact. Small inklings may be available in training camp, and a few more in preseason, but it won't be until regular season that we really will find out; and the OL play could be very different at the end of the season than at the beginning.

Kind of hard to really judge the OLine or the DLine for that matter Until they get the pads on. It's also hard to practice run blocking when there is suppose to be no contact. Training Camp will tell us where we are at.

That was so yesterday. There was a time when teams didn't blitz or run complex coverages in preseason because they didn't want to give teams an idea of what they will be running during the regular season. All that has change because now teams blitz and disguise their coverages.

The third preseason game should be the best indication of how teams have improved and what they still need to work on. This is the game where the starters play the majority of the game in preparation for the regular season.

I'm looking forward to see what develops with our OL. I think they are going to find 5 they think can play and let them run with it. They are moving some guys around now but I think when camp opens the 5 they start with will stay there unless someone just can't handle it. Hopefully they won't have the slow start they did the last 2 years.

Probably know more about everything in training camp

I don't think you can possibly judge run blocking without hitting. It's such a physical thing that I think it has to be with pads and full contact...

They haven't even had the pads on yet. You can't tell what the run blocking is like until they put the pads on. Patience grasshopper.

In preseason, the teams are interested in player evaluation not in winning the games per se. In the regular season, teams game plan -- ie, they target specific weaknesses opponents have, try to create mismatches, etc. That's why some teams that look promising in preseason don't do so well in the regular season -- and vice versa -- especially after the first or second game of the season.

The Fins' offense looked reasonably good in preseason, but the wheels fell off the juggerNOT in the second game when the Bills, having film of the Miami-Pitt game, took advantage of the poor Miami OL play and Daunte's immobility to rack up 6 sacks and a bunch of "hurries". Every team after that did the same thing until Miami found a way to counter the pass rush, which was why Culpepper took 21 sacks in 4 games.

Really, tell us, do you feel the same about your Oline or do they get a free pass because A) you added Dockery and B) It's your team?

So you don't think the Bills familiarity with MM had anything to do with the "wheels falling off" in the Bufflao/Miami game? I love how every one of your posts is in some sorta way, is a knock on the fins.
