As we wind down on a very...VERY succesful season..its time to look at some of the more fun topics about our team.

Our Defense is currently the #1 Sack machine in the NFL. This after taking at least the first half of the season to really understand Saban's defense. We have our weakness', like the secondary...but all in all we are comeing together very well.

The one thing that stands out most is we have become a Very hard hitting, attacking style defense. Relentless in pressure..and stepping it up a notch in the final minutes of the game...

I think we have a certain identity now.....so....should we give em a name to go with it....

What do you think....???? If so ..any ideas??
 
you don't name defenses on teams that aren't going to the playoffs....
 
hahaha cmon, how bout the "in transition"...or the "under construction" or the "soon to change"

Right..and Im taking advice from someone who calls themselves....

Hopefully that fairy that shat in your cereal this morning at least gave you a wink and a smile first......sheesh.....
 
Good nicknames either have to be topical (Purple People Eaters, Steel Curtain, Killer Bs, No Name defence), or timeless/classical (The four horsemen, New York Sack Exchange) and fit in with the personality of the team, which is also defined in part by the city they're in.

Some very good defences (Chicago '85, Ravens '00) never generated a nick name that stuck.

I think the defence is a year or two away from creating it's own personality, curse you Reggie Howard.

But if the defence does get a personality I kind of like something hurricane related, such as storm surge, as a starting point for developing a nickname.
