Is it time to pull a Herschel Walker type trade.

I know people love Zach and JT. I know they can still play. MY question is HOW LONG CAN THEY PLAY and who long will they be willing to play.

[SIZE=-1]Herschel Walker gave Johnson 6 draft picks. I know no one will give us 6 for just 1 of our guys but whos to say you couldnt get 4 for JT. Whos to say you couldnt get 2 for zach.

These guys, as much as I love them are 2 huge hits to our salary cap. They are getting older and this could honestly be their lat year. Unfortunately for them they WILL NOT PLAY IN A SUPERBOWL FOR US. I dont see an issue of pulling a trade that could get us 2 1st rounders over the next 2 years with a few 3rds or 4ths thrown in. Jimy went 1-15 is first year after the Walker trade but three years later he coached in the superbowl. the boys were in the superbowl 3 out of 4 years by building from the draft.

some of you say its okay to let wes go. some of you say how great it is that we can get a 2nd and a 7th for him. Well we could get picks for JT and thomas and if you are thinking the good of the team for the LONG RUN then you have to think of the team and not just 2 players. I want to see the fins win the superbowl, if that meant trading the pats whole team for our team and winning it that way id do it. IM A FINS FAN, NOT ANY INDIVIDUAL PLAYER (except marino :D)

this team has an all star front 7 right now . . . no thanks . . we have plenty of draft picks, and I wanna see Zack and JT have some much deserved success down here. They are Fins for life. Both guys are old, nobody is giving up 4 picks for Jason Taylor. Are u kidding me?

Trading JT or Zach would not be the right way to go. You need the studs on your team, to bring in younger guys around them and continue to rebuild/retool and get the team where the new coach wants it. It seems they are going to rebuild the offense....all the line cuts, McMike, Harrington, and guys like Welker and Morris being let go.

The defense is solid and they will keep it that way, they let Carter go because he was overpaid, but they did keep Holliday and signed him up for 4 years and they just picked up Porter, which shows they are keeping the defense strong and believe they have what it takes for a few years on that side of the ball. Most pieces are there, they just cut a few overpaid ones and added a stud LB to it.

So rebuilding is going to take place, but mostly on the offense and guys like Zach and JT have a few years left to where you build around them and the younger guys can learn from them as they go.
 
1) Herschel Walker happened before FA
2) JT and Zach are still very productive and only getting better. They deserve to be Dolphins forever!
3) They are brothers in law (still as far as I know) and splitting these guys up would be like asking for disaster
4) Its just a waste of time to suggest this because it doesnt fit the plan
5) The plan is to get rid of non-productive players and bring in new ones who are.
 
I think they both have about 2 or 3 years left. It would break my heart so Miami trade these guys!
 
You said this in the other thread just above this one. I'm going to ask the mods for a merge.
 
I think all that really needs to be said on the topic of Zach and JT being traded or that being in the plans...

IF they were to rebuild and get picks for the defense, then Vonnie and Porter would of never been signed, a 31 yr old DL and a 30 yr old LB to nice multi year deals with a good amount of money in them.

So yes, we are looking for draft picks, but as a previous fan said, they are coming from overpaid guys being cut or traded and mostly on the offense side of the ball is where changes are being made.
 
We've already got 9 picks...we arent rebuilding the defense we are rebuilding the offense. Look for Chambers to get traded eventually but there certainly won't be any kind of Herschel Walker type trade!

This is getting boring, I have read that thread a 1000 times before. JJ could pulled that deal because he found somebody stupid and desperate enough. That was before FA, now you can get players without making insane deals like that.
You would get a 1st rounder for JT I am sure, but that's it. And that's not worth it. For ZT you would only get a 2nd rounder if you are lucky, he is old, a MLB, too small for most defenses. People do not trade a 1st rounder and more for him. Not even the Raiders
 
Maybe if you tried this thought again in just one more thread, and every again disagreees again it will start to become clear.:evil:

Our D is going to be really good for the next few years. Why mess that up?

Why rebuild 2 sides of the ball when you only have to worry about one?

Just stop posting. All your post's are ******ed and no one want to read them. JT AND ZT are our franchise players. Those guys are loyal to us and to the DOlphins. You don't just get rid of these 2 because they are getting older. JT just won DMVP this year. the guy has a lot in the gas tank. We have improved our defense with porter, you don't downgrade and get rid of our 2 best pass rushers because you gain another. you get rid of dead weight like the carters the vikersons, the mcmichaels. Maybe we'll get another second for bell, thats logical. Not JT OR ZT...quit being so damn negative and just look at the positives. We are not rebuilding, we are not cleaning house, we are getting rid dead weight and JT AND ZT are not dead weight. Just stop posting please:tantrum:
