So my fiancee and I just decided to take a trip down to Ft Lauderdale from August 11-14th.

While Im missing the preseason games, training camp is open.
My question is...is it worth going?
I'm sure I would love it, but I may have the problem of convincing the girl to agree. Although she knows of my extreme love of the fins so she'll probably go along with it. Any other type of incentives other then just watching? How long does it usually run?

I also see they only admit the first 2000 people. Does this get full? How early should you arrive before practice to ensure some type of decent seats.

Sorry for the barrage of questions, but I just got pretty excited about the possibility.
Maybe I could meet up with some of you guys if your gonna be there too.

Thanks

It will be hotter than hell.

Bring ice cold beverages (preferably a cooler filled with ice), wear as little as possible and wear a cap so your face doesn't explode.

To avoid heat stroke, good spots to place ice to quickly cool the body temp down is on the wrists and behind the neck..

Make sure everything you wear, including your cap, is light colored to reflect the sun.

And, Make sure you call ahead before you go out there to make sure they aren't practicing in the bubble that day.. Sometimes they go in there to prevent the players from going insane and melting in the heat.

Last piece of advice.. After practice go to La Spada's across the major street there with your fiancee.. The major street to the West of the complex.. Best sandwiches you will ever find anywhere. Just ask around, everyone knows where it is as players and coaches go there almost daily for their fix.

He is not exaggerating, its barely tolerable. My wife will not join me in any practices or games prior to November.

It is ridiculously hot out there. You'll think, "Well, its a 9am start time, and I'll get there before it gets too hot." And you'd be wrong because the humidity alone is horrendous and as the sun gets higher in the sky, it only gets worse. Plus, there is nary a breeze and, occasionally, parking is a pain.

So, yeah....its awesome and I'll be there with bells on.

At least Doche Saban is no longer there. He had the decency to practice on the faaaar field in the mornings (at least every time that I went), which was akin to sitting in the upper decks at a real game.

Oh, and +1 for La Spada (in the Arrowhead Shopping Plaza across the street). Their subs are sick. I once won a $20 bet that I couldn't eat a 12" Giant Monster Combo in one sitting. Tastiest $20 ever...

Last year, at the first session, there were open seats. Now, we should have more people for the first session, but in the others, I doubt there's many people there.

It is ridicoulously hot, not just in training camp, its the hottest summer since I've lived down here.

Anyone know if season ticket holders get the covered seating this year?

Hot weather or not, it's definitely worth attending. You'll have fun being up close and personal and you can get some great signatures from marquee players when practice ends.

Yea, last year was my first time and it was a blast. I even got autographs even though I dont even like or get the point of autographs. The beginning can be REALLY boring with the players warming up. Then they start doing positional drills. And then they do 7 on 7's I believe. I only went to one session last year but might go to a couple more this year.
