Seeing as we all watched Marino struggle his last few years, are we in any position as Dolphin fans to judge Brett Favre for returning and well, kind of embarassing himself??

Anyways, I made this thread because I'm making a t-shirt for my uncles b-day that deals with Favres return. He's a huge Packer fan and I see him going through what I did in Marino's last years, but worse, no playoffs as mentioned by the poster below.

On the front I have a pic of Favre's face in helmet looking old and contemplative, and on the back a pic of Favre standing in the Lambeau field tunnel waiting to run out there, his back turned to us.

I'm trying to think of something eloquent to say, short and simple, with a question & answer like tone with whats said on front to what's said on back.

For example, I have temporarily put on the front "WHY?" and on the back "Could YOU Walk away?"

But it's not sitting with me, so do you guys have any ideas, I would really aprreciate ANYTHING to get the mind stirring. Thanks!

You shouldn't feel guilty judging Favre by any means.

Marino took his team to the playoffs in his last year on the team. Favre's teams are horrible.

Marino was playing to win a Superbowl. Had he won one earlier in his career, he would've retired by '97 or '98.

Favre has already won a superbowl and is already viewed as one of the greatest qbs ever. It seems (to me at least) that he's playing for records at this point, especially the TD record.

Favre is selfish, IMO. He should let that franchise rebuild and move on. They have a qb waiting in the wings. Marino didn't have any of this and Marino left a playoff team. Had the Dolphins been 4-12 in '97, or '98, he would've never came back the following year.

That is what I believe.

wow I really like that idea and IMO the pictures and words are perfect. Just make the shirt green if you can.

Nice though

Were you watching Marino prior to his injury in his last season? What were we prior to the injury? 7-2? This is a ridiculous question!

This isn't comparable, Marino drug his team into the playoffs last year. It became painfully obvious they were overmatched but the fact that he got them to the divisional round is a testament to how good he still was. If his body would have held up a little better he could have played at a high level a couple of more seasons.
As far as we know Favre isn't hurt like Marino was, plus he's already won his championship. If he wants to keep playing he should find a different team and let the Packers rebuild. The Fins were not trying to rebuild during Marino's last year.

I agree completely. You hit the nail on the head.
