Nick Saban was comparing this guy to Troy Palumalu :rolleyes2

he's been playing cornerback exclusively in these minicamps right?

Cam said he was going to play him there

any news on how he looked in camp or if he's progressing?

is this a smart guy that's going to grasp what the whole defensively gameplan is or is he going to be a deer in the headlights?

jeez, i hope he can come in and greatly improve our secondart because it really sucks

it's really really bad

He has only played one year, and in 2006 only a handful of people played exceptionally. Give him time.

Well, everyone thought Drew Brees was going to be a bust and look how he turned out. It may take another season or two but we need to be a patience and see where Jason feels comfortable enough to play. THEN we'll evaluate whether or not hes a bust.

The secondary isn't nearly as bad as you are making it. I think Will Allen will have a fantastic season and assert himself as a number 1 CB. We have 2 solid guys in TD and AG who both can hold down the #2 spot. Jason Allen is a wildcard . . . he may end up starting or atleast hold down the nickel and be real good at it . . . or he could struggle with the uncertainity of his position. I like to think positive and think he will emerge as the #2 guy at CB. And our safety play last year wasn't bad at all, once we got Tillman out of there . . . Bell and Hill proved very formidable, and I expect even better things with the familiarity they have gotten in this system. Our secondary isn't the best, but its far from horrible . . . and w/ the pass rush this front seven should be able to bring w/ the addition of Joey Porter . . . that makes them even better.

ummm it's hard to tell right now but i don't think he's going to be as exceptional as Nick Saban thought he was going to be. That dosen't mean though that he can't be a solid player on our team.

No he will not. And I honestly would be willing to put money on it that he becomes a noteworthy player in the Dolphins secondary...

Anybody that's kept up with his career know that J-Allen is a player. He was a beast at Tennessee. And he will show it...I do believe he was a reach(he was a workout warrior with his blazing 40 and blazing shuttle times) where Saban picked him, but he does have alot of talent.

Will Allen is probably going to be the #1 corner on our team but i don't see him as having a fantastic season. He's always had problems against either bigger receivers or receivers that have more speed(check out the Giants game from a couple of years back). i think he's going to be a solid corner in run support but i don't expect him to Deion Sanders or anything. He would make a fantastic #2 corner.

Give him more time.

yes it it

they blew assignments and gave up huge plays, 30-40yrd plays, game changing plays on a regular basis

namely in the Pittsburgh game when we let a TE break off a 60+ yrd play and at the end of the Jets monday night game when we had it wrapped up and blew it

bunch of other games also

our whole secondary resorted to intentional pass interference and not to mention we could never come up with an interception when the ball was up for grabs in the air

Either you can play safety or corner, or you can't. It is not rocket-science. He is a buster and should be turnin tricks on Biscayne, thats what he would be good at.

The play in the Pittsburgh game was a break down in communications where only half the secondary received the audible to go from a 2-deep to a 3-deep coverage.

The play at the end of the Jets game was not a secondary mistake but a defensive one. The linemen and linebackers didn't read the screen pass and allowed Washington to run free.

Yes the secondary blew other assignments but you do not finish in the top 5 in pass defense with just a pass rush. New England and Green Bay had just as many sacks as we did and neither finished in the Top 10 in pass defense. NE and GB defenses did have more INTs and that is what our secondary needs to improve on.

He couldn't break into the starting line up when we were 1-5, I wouldn't call him a bust yet because Capers runs a very complex defense and the Safeties have huge rolls to play in calling plays. At corner he will have a chance to show if his athleticism is actual or just workout warrior stuff.

well lets hope he is not a bust and the secondary really needs help the only reasion the secondary looks good is beacuse of the amasing pass rush we have
