No. Ross likes him and will give him every chance to fail. They will make the excuse there is no one on staff to take the gig.
That said, if they have another listless performance or they choke in a big spot in London, I would can him and elevate Bill Lazor and promote Mark Duffner to DC.
I would try to accomplish three things:
1. Salvage the season.
2. See what I have in Lazor
3. See what is really on this roster. Do they play hard and smarter under Lazor or in fact are they dogs for anyone?

I always thought last year that Joe did not want to hire a Jim Schwartz, Butch Davis, Eric Mangini etc. because he did not want an replacement in house.
I think there is an excellent chance Joe is fired during the bye week if we lay another egg this week vs. the Jets. This teams performance yesterday was so bad and alarming....that I have actually been watching PFT today thinking we might hear something about a change taken place immediately.
If / when that does happen, I'm not sure why we would put this team in the hands of Lazor. While he might look like a better alternative in personality than Joe......I think that the lackluster play of our offense, the lack of creativity in play calling and the lack of fire by the offensive playmakers has to also sit on Lazor's shoulders....not just Philbin. Same goes for Coyle.

He'll last season, win just enough to screw us in draft and get replaced offering us fans another year of hope, let downs, and misery. Oh, that and a big look forward to the draft.
They don't play for the coach. That is true. They seem to be protesting with their lackadaisical play. They are in want of a new coaching mentality. They are sick and tired of the same old same old. That's what I saw in the debacle Sunday: A team defeated in themselves. Team philosophy must change and pronto to save (hopefully) a downer, although still quite early, season.

Can u believe that he is not willing to make changes to the offensive line this week despite having the 71 and 74 guards in the league..........you can't sit fox down, move the right tackle to left tackle and play turner at r guard and douglas at left guard.............the guy is pathetic......I for one think him and coyle should be canned and even though he sucks so far, ascend lazor to interim coach and the linebacker coach to dc.........they cannot be worse than philbin, in the sense that if they lose out.....fine you know they have the first pick in draft, what is the point in a 4 to 6 win team with this coaching staff......
