Is Jonathan Vilma any good?

Im a huge fan of Vilma since his days at the U, but he isnt any good in a 3-4. Thats why the Jets got rid of him. He is a hard hitter and has speed though.
 
Linebacker is not a need for miami at the moment. I think Channing Crowder does well in the inside and Oyedele is playing decent. Our bigger need is at cornerback if anything.

i agreen plus we have reggie Torbor. I would not mind drafting an ILB to eventually replace Akinole but inside linebacker is a minor need right now. Outside backer might be useful due to Porter's age and Roth's inconsistency.
 
Like others have said we are very good at LB. We need corners. Goodman has improved since the first month but I think we can do better. When your run D is solid but the passing D is ranked in the 20's Cb and safety is where you put an emphasis in April.

I have to agree with you 100% We really need to get a solid CB or a Big Wr!

With that 2nd rounder we got for JT we should draft a Nose Tackle.


But back to Vilma He doenst play well in a 3-4 Scheme, but he plays NASTY as a 4-3 linebacker.

i truly wish we would run a 4-3 but as long as we have Porter doing his damage we should stay 3-4. I just prefer the 4-3 , the linebackers are usually better all around players plus its easier to find a Dt than a NT.
 
When can we stop talking about this issue of who we are going to get in the offseason? Cant this stuff wait till we are finished with THE PLAYOFF RUN we are CURRENTLY ON?????????

You guys do realize we are in the mix right now dont you? And you do realize that despite the fact that we clearly arent the best team in the league, if we do get in the playoffs all we have to do is string together some wins and WE CAN win a title this season. Its not like its impossible.

Hell, there is a chance that if we can get to 11-5 and win the rest of our AFC games, that we can get the 2nd seed in the playoffs and a first round bye. That means we win one game at home vs. a team we are certainly capable of beating and then unless Tennessee gets upset in their first playoff game(which is entirely possible btw) we go there and put together our best game of the year and beat them. That would mean we are IN THE SUPER BOWL. Its not entirely out of the question people. Geez.

But, everyone is worried about what we are going to do in the offseason to improve a team that as it stands right now, has a legitimate shot to win the division and possibly go to the bowl. Ridiculous.
 
IMO linebacker is the weakest position on this team... followed by safety..............................................................................................................................................................................................................................

I think it's become the habit of a lot of us given our recent history. We've had quite a few years where the draft is all we had to look forward to so I'll cut people slack until this Sunday.

After we beat the Pats, I don't want to hear it until January.

crowder is the 2nd ILB in tackles behind Jackson in clevland so hes plying well OLB is a need Roth sucks :lol:
 
dont forget he had 175 tckles in 04 or 05 so he can be succesful with crowder u never know
he better than our lbs except for crowder there bout even in tackle ability
 
Very Solid Player in a 4-3.

Fairly Weak Player in a 3-4.

He will not be anything more than a blimp on the radar in the offseason with the dolphins.
