Is Mare worth keeping? I believe his salary is in the 2 million per year range (if someone knows exactly, please post) which is about double what an experience NFL kicker makes. Granted he seems like a team guy, has a lot of kickbacks and keeps teams from having too many opportunities at runbacks, but his field goal percentage is awful and he seems to never make a clutch kick. Would that extra one million per year be better spent elsewhere?

He's done great things in Miami, but I say let him go in the offseason and get a fresh rookie in the draft.

I talked about this last week, Mare is now a liability, he could possibly lose a game for us. I dont understand why he has kicked so bad this year. He is definetly a goner this year. Saban was hot after that missed FG. He makes way too much money for a kicker for this years performance. :shakeno:

Even if he was playing for the leauge min it would be too much. He misses one per game these days, and that is not acceptable.
The only thing that can be said is we have asked him to kick a lot of long ones. Most his misses are 40 plus

I hear you about the overabundance of negative posts on this site but I consider this more of a constructive let's get our salary cap in order post more than a Mare bashing. He's certainly not without merits, which I believe I mentioned, but perhaps there's a better way to spend our money and still miss important kicks. Oopps, I thought I could control myself.

Yes, we won the game, but if the defense hadn't stepped up Mare's miss might have lost it.
