Rogers really won't have lost a dime from the restructuring. Players only get paid during the regular season. His release comes b/c he is still too highly paid to be a backup LB - in this league you have to know that there will always be someone to come and go after your job. It's the nature of the beast. As it is, he'll have an opportunity now to go to any team he wants and compete for a spot. Maybe he'll catch on with Arizona and get some PT in his college state.
Having to hang around til' June 1 is a bummer, but then, thats a deal the players union signed off on. Too bad for them! It's pretty stupid. Should be moved up to May 1 - just after the draft, and teams can get players in sooner as well as players being able to learn new schemes. Works better for the league. June 1 hurts everyone. Stupid rule.
