if you could rate our needs from 1 -10 with 1 being priority 1 and 10 meaning we could use that position but not right now .

I think will give my ratings llike this

cb = rating of 1 ( depth and talent )

nt/dt = rating of 2 (depth )

de = rating of a 5 ( talent ) if we sign jason which i thought we already did ) I put as a five until some of you give me more insight on this position.

ILB/OLB = rating of 3 (rating of a 2 for both depth and talent.)

offensive tackle /og/ center rating of 3

wr = rating of 3 to 5

TE /RB/ QB = RATING OF 9 OR 10

i cant see us drafting a te /rb or qb this year but you never know how things will turn out.

No way do we go TE first round. I would be extremely upset with that pick. We have a #1 TE in Fasano is still very young at 24, coming into his 4th year, and could end up being one of the best TE's in the NFL. David Martin showed improvement last year and I still want to see how Joey Haynos does with a little more exp.

I think your OG/C position should be ranked a little higher like a 5 or 6, We have good talent at G as long as we stay healthy. Obviously Grove is the big question mark. Our depth isnt horrible but we could use one more depth player.

Friend Acefin 500:
not exactly sure how you want to structure the thread
however, will give it a shot. according to need:
1) NT
2) CB
2) WR
3) LB/DE
4) hybrid/player (PatWhite the WildCatMan)
5) Center/Guard
6) TE
7) RB/FB

most pressing are the NT & CB positions to fill for need
I think all the hype about receivers is a smoke screen

OH NO, NOT HIM!!!

cb (should be defensive backfield) = 1 (aging Will Allen and Bell is 31 and injury prone..
plus we need another CB )

nt/dt = rating of 2 (depth, not many teams other than the Giants that have much depth
here, Ferguson getting up there, others not tested)

de = rating of a 6 (really like the youngsters Merling and Langford, Dotson hasn't been
tested)

ILB/OLB = rating of 3 (not a big fan of Crowder, Porter getting up there, Roth is
average.......others contribute more to special teams then they do defense)

offensive tackle /og/ center = rating of 6 (could be higher if we had a better center....like
the depth compared to years past.....think they might
surprise teams this year with a good running attack

wr = rating of 5 (could be as high as 7 depending on Camarillo returning from injury and if
the 3rd year receiver anomoly is true for Ginn)

TE /RB/ QB = 7 (depends on how well Grove can block the big NT's in the AFC East so
Brown and Williams can run the ball....I like Pennington he just needs a
stronger arm, can't wait to see Henne next year. He completes alot of passes
for 8 yards or less to TE's and RB's..I love Fasano, Martin had his moments
but getting older. Parcells will find a backup to replace Martin somewhere in
the later rounds or undrafted free agent.

I think the easy schedule helped them last year. Looks much tougher this year, but looks can be deceiving. I'd be happy with 10-6, might be far fetched though.

cb = 1 (we have no shutdown corner on this roster, We will have 3 FA's at the position by the end of the year if we don't resign them prior.

nt/dt =6 (I'm going out on a limb here and say Paul gives us a 1 or 2 year to find someone, and we'll pick up a FA at the end of camp. I don't think, unless Boston's Ron Brace in the 3rd or Sammie Lee Hill,from Stillman in the 4th drops to us...that this is a high priority this draft..)

de = 8 (Just think we have a lot of talent in that group)

ILB/OLB = 2 (Until we have blitzers and playmakers in the group, it needs overhauling)

offensive tackle =2 (I just don't think we have a decent b\u on the roster)

OG/ center = 5 (too many question marks, but we have enough to get though the season)

wr =6 (will know more after this year)

TE /RB/= 3 (all our TE's except 1 and rb's except 1 will be FAs at the end of this year...won't be able to sign them all so we need some deveopement ppl.)

QB = 3( This is dependent on what's the future of Pennington.)

I think Brandon Pettigrew might be a surprise 1st round pick to us, much like Ted Ginn in '07.

I agree as he would help both the running and passing game. Fasano, Martin & Haynos are FA's next yr. If not there I would not be surprised if they target Jared Cook or Shawn Nelson later.

CB = 1
Glaring hole, but think they will fill with second day picks

LB = 2
They obviously targeting although IMO ILB is a bigger problem.

TE = 3
See above

WR = 4
Don't feel they will take one first day though unless blown away.

NT = 5
Not alot available and Brace at 25 would probably be too much of a reach but anything is possible.

Ol = 6
Depth

RB = 7
Ricky will be gone next yr

S = 8
Depth

QB = 9
Moves up if they trade Beck

DE = 10
Too many bodies already

I went into this offseason thinking O - Line was where we had the biggest need, that was before Free Agency, now I would say CB. I would not rate NT/DT as high as you have it, or I would rate OL / NT&DT at the same level. I think we definitely need depth at NT, but we have adequate # of 3-4 DT's. I still think losing both of our starting guards hurt our running game last year, so I think it is still a big need that lots of people on here overlook.
You can make an argument for every position depending on what your personal opinion is.

CB - Will Allen is aging, has 1 year left on his contract, little to no depth

S- Bell is injury prone, no depth at either safety.

WR - good young talent, could use a big bodied across the middled sure handed WR.

OL - Depth across the board, possible starting LG

NT - Fergie is 34, no depth

OLB - Porter is getting older, need more pass rush on QB

TE - Everyones contract is up next year

RB - Ronnie is a FA after next season, Ricky is 32.

I am not saying those are my feelings on each position, those are just some of the few opinions I have read either on here or elsewhere, nor am I not trying to bust on the Fins, I really think it depends on someone's personal preference. That's what makes this draft so important for the Fins & why I cannot wait until April 25th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1) CB
2) NT
3) D-line help
4) LB
5) WR
6) SPECIAL TEAMS HELP!!!! (DEPTH)
7) Offensive Line
8) FB
9) TE
10) RB

Don't be so sure.Martin and Fasano are both free agents next year.And the Dolphins have like 12 free agents after this year.

I would rather have James Casey as a TE/WR/RB/QB/RS. He would play TE for us, but he is much more versatile as a wildcat specialist than Pat White. I also think Soliai is our guy at NT and if we pick one it will be late (6th or 7th, if not UDFA) just based on Parcells' history of drafting NTs.

We will definitely draft a Tight End somewhere on April 25/26. Fasano is in a contract year and Martin has concussion problems - he got knocked out in two games last season. Remember him laying on the field helplessly in the last game vs the Jets, and the Raiders game where he got knocked out. Concussion problems are not a joke, it's a very serious matter.

And the Dolphins love to line up in 2 and 3 tight end sets.

You can bet all your piggy bank money that the dolphins will draft a TE. Parcells drafted Fasano in the 2nd round even though he had Jason Witten. They had 3 good TE's in Dallas. Look to eventually have 3 good ones in Miami. Parcells loves his TE's and has always put a premium on them.

I'd say the OP's ratings are fairly good. I'd b reak it down a bit more though by saying:

CB: 1 We need a starter, with Green and Jason Allen being nickel back and backup fillers.
FS: 2 We will likely start Bell and Wilson, but there are significant injury worries between them and they are both naturally SS's with only our thin CB's like Jason Allen providing backups.
OG: 1 We need a 2nd starter badly, with Thomas providing a backup.
OT: 3 We desperately need a backup T, and I wouldn't be surprised to see a day 1 draft pick who starts at G and can be a backup T if needed.
C: 3 We have another backup spot open for a C/G player.
WR: 4 We need a starting WR. London could be the other WR depth and Camarillo/Bess provide decent depth in the slot, so we're not as desperate as people think ... but we need a true #1 opposite Ginn.

NT: 2 I've been a big supporter of Soliai, but he hasn't panned out and will soon be out of the NFL flipping burgers. Ferguson is very old. We need a young NT. If by some miracle Raji slips past 15, I wouldn't be suprised to see us trade up to grab him. Otherwise, I expect us to draft one later and wait another year for a real solution.
OLB: 2 I've been quite pleasantly surprised by Roth's play, but he still cannot cover anyone and isn't a pass rush threat. Porter is old and needs an apprentice. I expect a first day pick to be at OLB ... someone with pass rush skills like perhaps Clay Matthews, Brian Cushing, Larry English, or Connor Barwin.
ILB: 3 Crowder was resigned, so while I'm not impressed with him, he's likely set to start. Ayodele just isn't good enough. We could really use an upgrade at both starting ILB's and certainly some depth.
