I'm not sure how to post this as a poll, so I'll just ask the opinion of other fin fans:

1.) Would you agree or disagree that Pennington is an upgrade over McCown; especially taking into consideration that McCown was the veteran QB, lending experience to the stable of QB's?

and

2.) Is the decision to start Beck and play Henne an attempt to provide NFL game experience to their learning curve....... or perhaps an attempt to showcase Beck in particular, as trade bait?

My answers: 1.) Yes. and 2.) For the experience. But that being the case and since I beleive there is zero chance we'd cut or trade Henne.... why not allow McCown to showcase himself (preferably against third stringers) for trade value with Pittsburgh etc.....

1. I agree that Pennington is an upgrade over Chainsaw Charlie.

2. The team is playing Beck and Henne mainly for game experience. No sense in having Chainsaw play, when he's the odd man out.

My feeling is this. When the new regime came to Miami, they were not sold on Beck being the guy for the future, but was willing to give him a chance to prove he could be that guy. However, they wanted to add another young QB to build around just in case their gut feeling about Beck turned out to be true. Enter the drafting of Chad Henne in the second round.

I also believe they wanted a veteran QB on the roster who could maybe start this year as their young QBs got comfortable enough to take the starting job. Enter Josh McCown on the first day of free agency.

So, I believe they achieved what they originally set out to do. Have two young QBs and hope at least one of them proves to be the long term answer and have a veteran on board to hold the reigns in the short term.

Fast forward to TC and this moment in time. The competition for the long term between Beck and Henne currently is in Henne's favor.

However, McCown doesn't seem to be paying off as much as they hoped. Enter Chad Pennington.

Good and succinct summation of the situation Nubs. As much as I'm pained to see us sign a dJet, I'm not so homerish to recognize he is indeed an upgrade over McCown in leadership, accuracy, team accomplishment etc.. The signing also is a reflection that the trifecta is indeed looking for the potential to upgrade at ALL positions and at all depth.
