I read a lot of posts on this board about how bad and terrible R. Howard is. Some even write short stories and biographies about his suckness.
-One thing I know for sure: he looks very good on the CB blitz even if he weighs like 99 pounds (looks like it at least)
-How many times was Howard beat deep or even beat at all.
I noticed that Howard was beat deep and short during the 1st game against the Bears which is normal because it was the 1st game with a new defensive scheme. After that game, against the Bucs and Jaguars, his name was not even called once meaning that his man was always covered or he was doing a fantastic job.

He has played well after the first pre-season game.

i agree. he has been much improved this year. Keep in mind he has even more pressure w/surtains departure.

Reggie Howard was on the verge of being a shutdown corner with the Panthers.I think he'll do great in Sabans defense.

I can't speak for the preseason outside of the HOF game, but he got toasted all the time in man coverage last year. Our new D seems to play more to his strengths, but time will tell.

Howard is good if not great in zone coverage. The bump and run press D we played last year didnt agree with him at all. Im expecting him to look real good this year with the new D Scheme.

I think he is a much better corner for Saban's system than he was for Wanny's.

So Have They Said Who Is The Other Starting Corner, Is It Reggie Or Travis? Thanks.

What I said months ago:

Reggie started out slow and had me doubting myself...... im still confident in him based on what he showed in Carolina.

He's been one of the most improved players this preseason I think. Zone seems to work for him well. He's got that ball awareness going on for him now that I remember Pat Surtain going WILD with all the sudden one year.

Reggie Howard is in the same position that Jamar Fletcher was. He's a DB who was playing out of his normal scheme. Unlike Fletcher though, Howard has shown flashes of skill and stability while playing at an NFL level with the Panthers. I think Howard could be greatly improved this year, but like everything else with this team we won't know until the season starts.

Is it Sunday yet?

Resist the Jamar Fletcher comparisons. He was not consistent enough for any scheme, no matter how much it "fit" his style.

As I said , the comparison was being made at a college , not NFL level. Fletcher hasn't proven himself as anything at all at a Pro level.
