I was listening to the Mad Dog radio show on Sirius earlier and he was saying it's a must win for the 'Phins. He cited the toughest schedule especially having to travel to SD week 3 as the reason. It's true that if we go 0-3 the chances of the playoffs drop significantly. I remember hearing that for the last 2 years, having started 0-2 during both.

There was a guy who called in and said he's been a Dolphins fan for 30 years and I remember just about everything he said like that we need to get Ronnie more touches per game at least 20+, and how he wishes we would "just line up and play football" instead of all the trickery. I agreed with most of his comments. I wonder if he's on this board.

Anyway, do you guys think Monday's game is a must win to make the playoffs or is it still way to early to tell?

Teams that start 0-2 only have a 13.8% chance of making the playoffs. NFL network put that number up this week.

We made the playoffs last year after starting 0-2, but that was with a creampuff schedule.

13.8% are not good odds, especially with a very hard schedule.

Yea and those chances will only drop if we go 0-3 which is very likely if we can't beat the Colts.

Every game is a must win IMO.

The Dolphins offense needs to, at bare minimum, look gelled together Monday. We don't necessarily need to pull anything majestic; as long as the offense can hold it's own, it'll be progress from last week's game. That's all assuming that the defense will play similar to last week. We need whatever positive motivation we can get on offense. If we get a win... sure it'll be one heck of a motivator... but if we get a win without our offense gelling and looking the same as last week, then I don't think a win will be all that great.

I somewhat agree I would like to see our offense play better but ay ill take that W any day no matter how we play

I know what you're saying we should want to and try to win any and every game, but I mean in the context of making the playoffs this year. Could we bounce back? Sure we could but is it likely?

A win is a win. I understand that. But, I'd be more interested in seeing our offense gel and help out the defense, rather than getting a win solely by defense. Maybe that's just me.

Definately a must win, cannot lose on Monday, then go to San Digeo on a short week....recipe for disaster....

I would say highly unlikely at that point. Atl and a banged up indy are a couple of our easier games IMO.

I think the Jets D is made to eat our offense alive, NE's D isnt lookin great, but their O will definately be top notch...still not sure what to make of buffalo, but they wont be a pushover...plus we still have NO which scares the hell out of me.

Realistically, if we don't win the division, we will have to be 12-4 to make the playoffs. IMO 0-2 almost already seals the fate.

I might get some heat for this. I'm much more interested in seeing the chemistry develop and our offense coming together, than getting to the playoffs this year. Much more interested in the long run than getting their now. I believe that's the idea of rebuilding as well. Focus on meshing and coming together on both sides of the ball. Once that is down pat... move on to playoff concerns and whatnot.

Without a deep playoff run the triggerman of the offense changes next season....so timing and chemistry starts all over again.

I want what you want AND to make the playoffs this year. I'm greedy like that. If I had to choose one I'd say playoffs this year. It indicates that you did well during the year, won the games you needed to win and once the post-season starts it's a whole new season essentially.

If White had hit Ginn on that deep pass then nobody would be complaining about trickery.

Dont think this game will be that crucial to how our season pans out. Teams can recover from bad starts to claim playoff spots, but when teams begin to struggle at the end of the season, thats when it can become more detremental to playoff chances.

Basically if the Fins were going to go on a 2 game losing streak, I'd rather it be at the beginining of the season, rather than at the end.

In another division, maybe not. But you can't afford to drop 2 games behind New England or New York. We'll learn a lot from that game.
