Is the season over for the Miami Dolphins? - NFL Network

well, one way to look at it, adam gase has been working with tannehill AND Moore this whole season, surely a QB whisperer would be able to help both QBs play better?

I agree with the studio crew, it's not like Tanny was having an MVP season. He was playing well, but not necessarily lighting it up. I think Moore can go in there and win. Will he lead us to the Super Bowl? No, but he can get us a playoff berth.

At least Matt Moore isn't the worst back up quarterback in the league . I think? I think Moore only has a contract for this season so one good thing is he will be playing for a contract for next season. That's got to be on his mind and he may be thinking that he wants to show other teams what he can do and maybe get a shot at a starter job. I know he is 32 right now but there are some terrible teams out there that maybe might give him a look if he does a decent job playing these last 3 games and hopefully into the playoffs. So he has plenty of incentives to play his heart out . At least I hope that's what he is thinking about.

Well I've lost a lot of interest in the season since our shot of doing anything meaningful is gone.. but I still want to win. Win and maybe we get into the playoffs. We won't do much there but it'll feel nice

Moore is signed for the 2017 season

Last 8 games...7-1. Tannehill completing 69.1% of his passes, 13 TDs, 4 INTs and a 101.9 passer rating. We're about to hand the reigns over to a guy with a 79.4 career passer rating and a career completion % of 58.9%. Not to mention the 33 TD-to-28 INT ratio and the 23 career fumbles playing behind a line that still isn't all that good. Last time he had significant playing time in 2011 when he started 12 games he had 14 fumbles...6 lost but he did have 16 TDs and 9 INTs which is a good ratio. My bigger concern are the fumbles behind this O-line.

Some of you Tannehill h8ters try to downplay how important he was to this team and offense and then justify it by saying he wasn't playing at MVP level. He might not have been league MVP but he sure as heck was playing like the teams MVP.

Moore is a backup for a reason. Not the most accurate guy around, but a pretty nice deep ball. If Miami can run the ball better than they have the last few games, he might get some big plays in the passing game. I'm interested to see his connection with DaVante Parker.

It's good news that Tannehill's injury is just a sprain, but he still likely misses a few games and maybe the entire season if the team is out of it.

Until we see the word "Eliminated" next to the Miami Dolphins in the playoff scenarios, then we're not out of it.

In all likelihood running the ball just got tougher. Teams will continue to load the box and probably blitz Moore since he hasn't had any significant playing time since 2011. They're going to force the Dolphins to win on Moore's arm and his lack of mobility is going to make it tough for him to out run the defense and get out of the pocket.

O-line has to play better than they have been. No question about it. Ajayi has been getting hit in the backfield far too often over the last few weeks, little push from the O-line, not to mention the pass blocking has been sub par. The remainder of the season hinges on the O-line first and Matt Moore second.

Lulz...ever since the beginning of the win streak, which was 6 games into learning an entirely new system, and a complete revamp of his coaching staff:

* #1 NFL QB passing under pressure
* #3 passer rating
* #7 YPA
* #1 Completion %
* 3:1 TD to INT ratio
* #1 in 50+ yard passes
* #1 in RZ passing

Ya, he wasn't "lighting it up..."

Playing that game you could bring up Tannehills December stats which aren't very flattering. In fact Moore's December splits are better by a pretty good margin. My point is its not really fair to compare what Moore did in a different situation to what Tannehill did in this specific situation. Not only that but the passing game has changed a lot just in the time since Moore last had significant action. Tannehill had a career year in passer rating but it only ranks 14th in the league. Whereas just five years ago in 2011, the last time Moore played significant snaps, a 94 passer rating would have been good for the 6th best. Huge difference.

People will make predictions and claim they know what they are talking about if the predictions pan but I don't believe anybody knows what's going to happen with Moore in there.
